From hand brewed coffee and hamburger hot dogs, to handicrafts and pet products, there is everything here -- the rise of "trunk bazaar"

2022-10-31

Every evening, private cars open the trunk and put various small goods on it, attracting people. Since the beginning of autumn, the "trunk bazaar" has sprung up in many parts of the country. In Donghu Park, Shizhong District, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, some people turned the trunk into a hamburger shop, some dressed the trunk as a milk tea bar, and some sold their own handicrafts. In the Dabaoen Temple in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, a parent-child themed "trunk market" was opened during the National Day. The stall owners here are mostly three people in one family. Children are encouraged to participate in the stall setting all the time to experience different holiday life. In the Wulin Night Market in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, a pink car was transformed into a hand-made lemon tea shop, with various eye-catching slogans pasted on the body. With excellent drink taste and unique body dress, this trunk booth has become a popular online card punching point. What is the "trunk market" selling? The reporter visited several "trunk fairs" in Beijing and found that coffee, hamburgers, small cakes and other fast food drinks appeared most frequently, followed by handicrafts, refrigerator stickers and other small commodities, and pet snacks, clothes and other pet products often appeared in the fairs. "The organizer stipulated that there should be no open fire on the booth, so the food sellers here are mainly fast food." Some stall owners told reporters that they also need to provide food business licenses and other relevant documents to set up stalls. In addition to providing certificates, you also need to pay a certain booth fee to set up a stall in the "trunk bazaar". It is understood that the booth fees vary from 200 yuan/day to 500 yuan/day. Can the "trunk market" make money? Take the handmade coffee stand as an example. A cup of coffee that sells for about 20 yuan can sell 60 cups a day when there are many people, and the income is 1200 yuan. "But it is quite unstable. When it is good, 60 cups a day will be sold. When it is bad, 10 cups may not be sold. When the weather is bad, even the stalls cannot be sold." A Beijing stall owner told the reporter that in the case of strong instability, participating in the "trunk market" can only be one way to increase additional income. The young stall owner said that the stall was more for personal interest. "Every time you set up a stall, you may not have income, but every time you set up a stall, you will have new gains." "Every time you set up a stall, you will have enthusiastic passers-by chatting with you. It's great to know new friends!" "I especially enjoy hearing that everyone praises my coffee"... Participation in the "trunk market" brings social satisfaction to the stall owner. For people who like to go to the market, "some things may not be ordered even if they are swiped online, but when they are seen in the market and the price is not expensive, they often have the impulse to buy." Xiao Chen, a Beijing resident, told the reporter that he had bought several things at the "trunk market", including 10 yuan/piece of refrigerator sticker, 35 yuan/bag of pet snacks and about 20 yuan/cup of all kinds of hand brewed coffee. The atmosphere brought by the "trunk market" has ignited the consumer's willingness to consume, and has also added more smoke to the city. (Liu Xinshe)
