"This souvenir is very meaningful, and I will treasure it carefully!" On September 23, Li Zhumei, a folk paper-cut artist and inheritor of intangible cultural heritage paper-cut in Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, and members of his creative team came to the city's pre service education base to send beautiful paper-cut works full of military flavor to the prospective recruits who are going to the military camp. The paper-cut works show Lei Feng, Qiu Shaoyun, Huang Jiguang and other heroes, as well as the stories of beacon fire, such as the Nanchang Uprising, the forced crossing of Dadu River, and the capture of Luding Bridge. After receiving the lifelike paper-cut, the prospective recruits could not put it down. Huang Mingsen, the director of the political work office of the Sanmenxia military sub district, told the author that in previous years, the main consideration for giving military memorabilia to prospective recruits was practicality. Most of them were pens, water glasses, notebooks, etc. Although they were not lacking in mind, they lacked regional characteristics and hometown flavor. The paper-cut art of Sanmenxia is famous throughout the country, and the paper-cut of Lingbao and Lushi are listed as national intangible cultural heritage projects. At the conscription work deployment meeting in the second half of this year, the People's Armed Forces Department of Shanzhou District proposed to combine red stories or heroes with paper-cut art to customize souvenirs for recruits, which not only reflects regional cultural characteristics, but also can play an educational role. This idea was unanimously recognized. Considering the large number of quasi recruits in the city and the time-consuming and laborious manual paper-cut, they decided to carry out a pilot project in the People's Armed Forces Department of Shanzhou District first. "The young men have joined the army enthusiastically. We are very happy to give them a gift! I hope they can take the expectations of their hometown people to the army to study hard and exercise hard, and live up to the expectations of their parents and fellow villagers." Li Zhumei and her team, as the partners of this activity, said that they were very proud of this task. After receiving the invitation, they put down their work and created more than 40 paper-cut works after nearly a week of night fighting. "The paper-cut is small in size and light in hand, but it bears great significance. I will take this hope to train hard, strive for military camp achievements, and deliver good news as soon as possible!" Guo Shaotong, a college recruit, carefully put paper-cut into his backpack and was full of expectations for the military life to be opened soon.
