The "orient-2022" exercise opened at the sergeyevsky training ground in Ussuriysk, Russia on the morning of August 31. China, Algeria, India, Belarus, Tajikistan, Mongolia and other countries sent troops to participate in the exercise. At the opening ceremony, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yevkurov announced the start of the exercise, followed by speeches by commanders of participating units and a parade. The reporter learned from the joint campaign headquarters of the Chinese side that the exercise aims to deepen practical and friendly cooperation between the armed forces of the participating countries, improve the level of strategic cooperation of the participating parties, and enhance the ability to jointly deal with various security threats. The exercise was conducted in four stages: troop concentration and deployment, joint campaign planning, joint campaign implementation, and organization of troop withdrawal. The armies of participating countries jointly set up a directing department and a joint campaign command organization. The Chinese Participating troops are mainly composed of the army, navy and air force units under the northern theater, with more than 2000 participants, more than 300 vehicles (equipment), 21 fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, and 3 ships. In the past ten days or so, the Chinese troops participating in the exercise have successfully implemented the cross-border delivery mission by means of motorized marching, railway transportation, maritime mobility and air transportation. As one of the four strategic direction exercises of the Russian army, the "Oriental" series exercises play an important role in the Russian army's exercise system. The "dongfang-2022" exercise was held in many training venues and relevant sea areas of the eastern Russian military region and will last until September 7.
