Scientific researchers have successfully established the meteorological station with the highest altitude in the middle Kunlun Mountains

2022-08-19

Recently, scientific researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese meteorological department have successfully established a multi-element Beidou transmission automatic station in Dujian mountain, 5200 meters above sea level in the Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang. This station is the highest meteorological station in the middle Kunlun Mountains, filling the gap in meteorological observation data records in the high-altitude areas of the middle Kunlun Mountains on the northern slope of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. The reporter learned from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the 18th that the Dujian mountain is located on the top of the Kunlun mountain. The natural environment is bad and the weather is complex and changeable. The scientific research personnel overcame the bad weather and plateau reaction, and successfully realized the equipment debugging and data return of the multi-element Beidou transmission automatic station. It is worth noting that the new meteorological station adopts integrated domestic meteorological detection equipment and adds ultraviolet radiation and low temperature observation on the basis of conventional meteorological elements, which will provide valuable meteorological data for the study of high-altitude weather processes, climate change and the unique precipitation characteristics of Kunlun mountain. Scientific researchers completed the construction of meteorological stations during the comprehensive scientific investigation activities in Kunlun mountain. The comprehensive scientific investigation of Kunlun Mountain was carried out under the framework of the second comprehensive scientific investigation of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau "the synergy of climate change and westerly monsoon". Nearly 40 experts and scholars from many domestic scientific research institutes and universities participated in the scientific investigation. According to scientific researchers, Kunlun Mountain and Taklimakan Desert Area on the northern slope of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau are the key areas for the study of the west wind monsoon synergy and the climate moisture energy of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. In recent years, the Qinghai Tibet Plateau has shown obvious characteristics of "warming and wetting", and the frequency of extreme weather and climate events in southern Xinjiang has also increased significantly. It is increasingly urgent to track the evolution of water vapor energy related to these changes and reveal the possible mechanism behind the changes and the possible impact. (outlook new era)
