Strengthen the awareness of "reading seconds" in military training and war preparation

2022-06-29

As we all know, modern war has entered the "second kill" era of discovery and destruction. Every minute is precious. Racing against time has become the key to victory in confrontation. To firmly grasp the initiative to win a war in your own hands, we must establish a solid foundation in training and preparing for war and strengthen the awareness of "reading seconds". When Soviet historian rybakov talked about the art of controlling time, he had a thought-provoking remark: "time is a constant, but for hard-working people, time is a variable. People who use 'minutes' to calculate time have 59 times more time than those who use' hours' Time is fair to everyone. People who use "minutes" and "seconds" to calculate time have 59 times more time and efficiency than those who use "hours" and "days" to kill time? The same training courses and war preparation items can be grasped by both sides. Some units successfully completed the training ahead of time with a strong sense of "reading the seconds", while others dragged their feet and could not see the end. How can their training and war preparation achievements be inferior? War is a competition between life and death, but first of all, it is a competition between life and death. Throughout the ages, those generals who can recruit and be good at fighting on the battlefield almost win the war by winning time, and increase the victory rate of the battlefield by improving the efficiency per unit time. In 1805, the British navy was at a disadvantage in a naval battle with the French and Spanish allied forces, with 480 fewer guns than the French and Spanish allied forces. However, British general Nelson made every effort to improve the firing speed of naval guns, so that the number of artillery doors changed from a disadvantage of 0.8:1 to an advantage of 1.6:1 in the actual number of shells fired at the same time, thus reversing the war situation. The sudden and quick decision of the outbreak of modern war endows the attribute of time with more connotations. One of the reasons why the Iraqi army was defeated so quickly in the Iraq war was that although they had the right time and place, they did not act and did so slowly in a large amount of time. Seeing that the joint forces were ready, they lost the opportunity of Jedi counterattack again and again. High efficiency on the battlefield has the same meaning as that on the playground. We often say that peacetime is wartime, and the playground is the battlefield. If the training is tired in peacetime, how can we act quickly in wartime? It only depends on the amount of training time, not the training effect in the unit time. Even if the training time is longer, the combat effectiveness will remain unchanged. To measure the level of technical and tactical training at all levels, if we only look at the pass rate and the excellent rate, and do not pay attention to efficiency, it is equivalent to the lack of an important measurement index. At the same time, we should also reflect deeply on how many of the courses we have worked hard in training are useful in war? How many of the moves that have been painstakingly explored are based on the assessment criteria and the shooting range criteria? The essence of some practices that deviate from actual combat is the accumulated malpractice of peace, which seriously restricts the improvement of combat readiness and seriously reduces the training efficiency. There is a famous non-linear effect in the arena. It says that weightlifters who lift 100 kilograms at a time will bring more benefits than those who lift dozens of kilograms several times. Obviously, it is more effective than lifting 1 kg or 100 times at a time. This theory enlightens us that in order to avoid the low-level operation of military training, we must coordinate and increase the intensity and rhythm of targeted training in a limited time. We should be soberly aware that we are racing against time, and our opponents are also wasting time like gold; We are running hard, and our opponents are not slowing down; We are challenging the limits, and our opponents are also sharpening their swords with every possible means. If we do not practice the actual combat skills of "one ring higher than the enemy, one meter away from the enemy, one second faster than the enemy and one move to defeat the enemy" in the same time, we will probably be at a disadvantage in the battlefield where we meet on a narrow road. A military strategist once said, "time is the absolute factor that determines the exertion of power or the exposure of weakness. It sometimes acts as a multiplier and sometimes as a divisor." Facing the reality that China's current security environment is more complex and severe, we must base ourselves on "preparing for battle tonight", strengthen the awareness of "reading the seconds", seize every minute, use every minute, and act with vigour and determination. Only in this way can we have more confidence and a better chance of winning a war. (outlook new era)
