On June 10, Yu Wenze, spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, made a statement in response to the European Parliament's adoption of the so-called "human rights situation in Xinjiang" resolution. The full text is as follows: We strongly condemn the resolution on the so-called "human rights situation in Xinjiang" adopted by the European Parliament, and resolutely oppose the European Parliament's political manipulation and gross interference in China's internal affairs under the guise of "human rights". Respecting and safeguarding human rights is an important principle of China's constitution. Over the past 70 years since the founding of new China, the cause of human rights in Xinjiang has continued to make new development and progress. China has carried out the fight against terrorism and de extremism in accordance with the law, effectively curbed the frequent occurrence of terrorist activities, safeguarded the lives and property of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang to the greatest extent, and made positive contributions to the cause of human rights in the world and the cause of Global Counter-Terrorism. At present, Xinjiang is in the best period of development in history with social stability, economic prosperity and development, and people living and working in peace and contentment. The facts cannot be distorted and the truth cannot be denied. Some anti china forces in the European Parliament, out of political self-interest and ignoring objective facts, slander and smear China's policy of governing Xinjiang, maliciously spread lies and rumors related to Xinjiang, and politicize and instrumentalize the human rights issue. Their purpose is to provoke China's ethnic relations, slander China's image, and curb China's development. Their actions are doomed to fail. The issues related to Xinjiang are not human rights, ethnic and religious issues at all, but anti violence, terrorism and anti secession issues. Xinjiang affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no external forces have the right to interfere. We urge the European Parliament to immediately stop interfering in China's internal affairs through the Xinjiang issue. (Xinhua News Agency)
