Zhan Peixun, a young Hong Kong entrepreneur going north: creativity and dreams take root in Dawan District

2022-06-08

To sum up, zhanpeixun, the co-founder and Chief Strategic Officer of Yiqing innovation, has taken his driverless project to Shenzhen to start a business for one year. From being in Hong Kong and watching the planning of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Great Bay area, to being determined to go north to show their strength, "after a short adaptation period, you are facing the entire mainland market." High entrepreneurial passion, precious experience and growth satisfaction are his biggest gains in the past year. Before leaving Hong Kong, Zhan Peixun was a professional. He was also the Deputy Secretary General of the Chaozhou chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He often participated in various exchange activities to interpret the policies of the SAR government and the central government. Therefore, when the outline of the development plan for Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Bay Area was published three years ago, it attracted his attention. "The Dawan district plan is a good opportunity for Hong Kong to take off again." Zhan Peixun said that after going through deindustrialization in the 1980s and 1990s, Hong Kong's foundation has become thinner. The status of an international financial center and a shipping hub has been challenged. Over the years, Hong Kong has been exploring new ways of development. Artificial intelligence is a new opportunity. "Hong Kong can make efforts in high-end industrialization." This needs the help of Dawan district. In Zhan Peixun's view, Hong Kong's role in Dawan district is "both ends". The "first end" is the source of innovation and entrepreneurship. There are many internationally renowned universities in Hong Kong with advanced and original scientific research achievements, which can be transformed into scientific and technological achievements with the help of mainland cities in Dawan district with a mature industrial foundation. When enterprises gradually grow up in Dawan District, Hong Kong can provide them with international and high-quality professional services, such as accounting, finance, law, etc., which has come to the so-called "tail end". But Zhan Peixun was not satisfied with his participation at both ends. Many years ago, Zhan Peixun, who was still studying at the Hong Kong University of science and Technology (HKUST), listened to a lecture. The keynote speaker was Wang Tao, a senior student who later founded Dajiang innovation. In that sharing, Wang Tao was deeply impressed by his words to the effect that when we have very good R & D technology and good ideas, Shenzhen, an open and inclusive city, can well undertake and turn your ideas into products. "At that time, I was greatly touched. It turned out that the technology we developed in Hong Kong could go global and change the lives and horizons of many people." This sowed a seed in Zhan Peixun's heart. With the publication and implementation of the plan of Dawan District, it has become increasingly prosperous. "It can be said that I am always ready to develop in the inland cities of Dawan district." Therefore, in 2017, Zhan Peixun and the team of the University of science and technology developed the first unmanned car in Hong Kong. The following year, Zhan Peixun registered his company in Shenzhen. Last year, Zhan Peixun simply moved to Shenzhen. In terms of the products he developed, the mainland market has more obvious advantages. At present, unmanned vehicle applications and potential customers are mainly industrial parks and factories. Such large-scale parks are relatively rare in Hong Kong. Under the epidemic situation, the application of unmanned vehicles has been extended to the meal delivery service in hotels and other places, reducing the contact between people and reducing the consumption of protective clothing and other materials. "Up to now, the company has successfully raised three rounds of funds and is making the fourth round of financing." He said frankly that the project has received a lot of support from the Shenzhen government. "Qianhai and Futian Free Trade Zone have issued a lot of support policies for Hong Kong and Macao youth." At the same time, the SAR government has also successively introduced a series of preferential policies, including the "Dawan District Youth Employment Plan" and so on. The response was very enthusiastic, "these are policies worth paying attention to and making good use of by Hong Kong Youth." Living and working in Hong Kong naturally has a period of adaptation, but Zhan Peixun said that compared with the networking resources, work experience and the satisfaction of witnessing the development of the company in Dawan District, it is really not worth mentioning. He believes that Dawan district is a "treasure land for entrepreneurship" with a hundred flowers blooming, and has fertile soil for the growth of Hong Kong Youth. "When you enter Dawan district and pass the adaptation period, you will face the whole of China." Zhan Peixun believes that Hong Kong still has important strategic significance. After gaining a firm foothold in the mainland cities of Dawan District, he is now looking forward to an early "customs clearance" to return to Hong Kong to prepare for operations and take the opportunity to explore overseas markets.
