Photographed by lixiaolong "Chinese parents are coming..." the International SOS Children's village in Bukavu City, South Kivu province, DRC is full of children's laughter. As the international day of United Nations peacekeepers is approaching, the 25th batch of Chinese peacekeeping medical teams to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) came to this children's village to carry out love transfer activities. The International SOS Children's village in Bukavu is located on the hillside near the camp of the Chinese peacekeeping medical team. It is one of the earliest orphan adoption charities established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At present, there are more than 100 orphans who have lost their parents or been abandoned due to war and disease. In 2005, the Chinese peacekeeping medical team to the Democratic Republic of the Congo paired up with the children's village and regularly offered assistance and condolences to the children in the children's village. The children affectionately called these Chinese soldiers "father" and "mother". Over the years, the Chinese peacekeeping medical team has always made assistance to children's villages a part of its peacekeeping mission. This passionate love has never been interrupted. In addition to donating food and sports equipment to help improve the learning and living conditions of the children in the children's village, the officers and soldiers of the detachment also conducted physical examinations for the children and played games with them. Su Nuowei, 12, said that many children here have been in the children's village since they can remember. For them, the children's village is both a school and a home. In addition to the teachers in the children's village, Chinese "father" and "mother" are the people they see most. Matthew, a staff member of the children's village, said that the Chinese peacekeeping medical team has always been very concerned about the children, and sometimes the children go to the secondary hospital of the medical team to see a doctor. "The friendship between China's secondary hospitals and the children's village has continued." Matthew said. The 25th batch of Chinese peacekeeping medical teams to the Democratic Republic of the Congo are responsible for providing medical service guarantee for the United Nations staff in the mission area and providing emergency medical assistance to the host countries. Since its deployment to the mission area for more than half a year, the unit has received more than 400 patients and performed more than 30 operations. It has won praise from friendly peacekeeping forces and local people for its superb medical skills. In May this year, when the commander of the southern theater of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Jawad, visited the medical unit, he spoke highly of the outstanding contribution made by the unit to peace and stability in the DRC. "The level II hospital set up by the Chinese peacekeeping medical unit is an important part of the southern theater of operations. It has not only provided outstanding medical services to military and civilian personnel in the mission area, but also provided efficient humanitarian assistance to the local people." "Sticking to the front line of peacekeeping, we sow hope and guard peace. We will keep in mind our original mission, demonstrate the kindness of doctors in saving the dying and healing the wounded, interpret the concept of a community of shared future for mankind with practical actions, and contribute more Chinese strength to the maintenance of world peace." The officers and soldiers of the medical unit said. (outlook new era)
