Shamiantang, now located at No. 60, shamiannan street, Liwan District, Guangzhou. Historically, it has been called Guangzhou foreigner church, Anglican Christian Church, Shamian Christian Church, Christian Shamian church, Guangdong Christian Shamian church, or Shamian church for short. Shamian church is a church dedicated to the worship of foreigners set up by the Anglican Church in the British concession of Shamian Guangzhou. It is located in Shamian Fifth Street and was built in 1864. Located at the western end of the concession, it is managed by the Hong Kong Guangdong Diocese of the Anglican Church of China. It has been presided over by British priests and worships in English. Because the Shamian Christian Church is a century old Christian building rarely seen in Guangzhou, many couples get married in Guangzhou and will use this place as one of the necessary scenic spots for wedding photos. After the Second World War, the Chinese Government recovered the concession and the church was transferred to the South China Diocese of the Anglican Church of China. It was occupied by government departments after 1949. It was recovered by the two provincial Christian churches in the 1980s. Religious activities were resumed in 1991, known as the Shamian synagogue. Its main buildings are the main church, the priest's building (also known as the Bishop's building), two large and small gardens and other ancillary buildings. The main church and the vicarage are in Victorian style. The top of the main hall tower is a Roman dome; Its design is full of exotic style, and its construction technology is combined with the characteristics of Lingnan architecture by Chinese craftsmen according to the local climate conditions. It is a fine combination of Chinese and Western architecture in Lingnan area. Now it is a national A-level key protected cultural relics. The Shamian church was built in 1865 of the Qing Dynasty. It is located at the southwest end of Shamian island in the former British French concession. It was originally a worship church for foreign sailors at Guangzhou trading port and later a public worship church for foreigners; When he was in charge of the Hong Kong Guangdong Diocese of the Anglican Church of England, he was renamed Christian Church, and then continued to be managed by the South China Diocese of the Anglican Church of China. From 1949 to before the reform and opening up, the shamiantang was managed and used by the government. In 1989, the government implemented the policy that the church, priest's building and ancillary properties were under the management of the two churches of Guangdong Province. After vigorous repair, it returned to normal use in 1992. In addition to holding worship, the Shamian hall is also responsible for the reception and exchange of the two sessions, so it is called Shamian hall. From 1993 to 2001, during the period when Guangdong Union Theological Seminary moved out of the former site of Dongshan and waited for the construction of a new school building in Baiyun, the provincial two sessions used the priest building of Shamian hall as the school building of Guangdong Union Theological Seminary, which once became the cradle of cultivating clergy. At present, the Shamian church is a church directly under the two churches of Guangdong Province. At present, four full-time pastoral teams, including pastor Lin enling, the head of the church, are responsible for the daily pastoral ministry. In addition to the three Sunday prayers, there are also various learning and training courses, fellowship activities and 10 holy music teams, such as Bible study classes, scholar fellowship and photography fellowship; The total number of worshippers is nearly 1000.
