AI's defeat of human professional players in the game was once the most famous news event in the game field, but now it has changed from news to common sense. The top international academic journal "nature" published in February this year published an academic achievement of "very game but not children's play" on the cover: Sony Group announced that it had developed artificial intelligence (AI) drivers in its racing game "GT racing", which achieved the result of defeating human drivers. It competed with four best "GT racing" players for the first time in July last year, And surpassed the top human players in another game last October. But even such a top-level competition did not even hit the microblog hot search on that day. Without him, there was no suspense about the result. Everyone was numb. Going back to the famous "man-machine war" in 1997, IBM deep blue computer defeated Kasparov, the world chess king at that time, causing a global sensation. It was not until 2016 that there was another global sensation of "man-machine war": Google's alphago defeated go world champion Li Shishi in the go game. Since then, AI has achieved this kind of victory, which is "rampant", and has jumped from the field of chess and cards to the game world. In 2019 alone, such stories will take turns: the game AI developed by Facebook won high scores in the team collaboration card game hanabi; The StarCraft artificial intelligence "alphastar" developed by blizzard in cooperation with Google team played 11 games with two human professionals of StarCraft 2, and the human won only once; In April of that year, openai five became the first AI system to defeat the world champion team. The AI team published a paper claiming that in more than 7000 games of dota2, the winning rate of openai five reached 99.4%. Of course, in China, where the global game consumption is the strongest and the game industry has the strongest development momentum, the combat power of game AI is improving at the same time as the world. Domestic game AI is also unwilling to show weakness. Take the most popular "glory of the king" as an example: in July 2021, on the booth of the world artificial intelligence conference, AI "Juewu" launched by Tencent defeated five star players from the glory of the king professional league with a score of 3:1. Here's the problem: the game is originally for entertainment (consumption). Players play the game to find happiness. As a result, they can't even fight AI. Isn't "man-machine war" the player's own "looking for abuse"? In theory, AI can really achieve this unpleasant setting. For example, at the 2021 world artificial intelligence conference, some viewers said that "E-sports players can't beat man-machine (i.e. AI players)" and "vegetable chickens don't hit man-machine anymore". In this regard, Netease's artificial intelligence laboratory has given an answer: develop AI Game "players" at the level of professional players to make the implementation of accompanying AI easier. We can use many different ways to reduce the intensity of AI and create low-intensity but diverse accompanying AI, so as to improve the player's game experience through better cold start, player accompanying and intelligent assistance. In other words, the profession of human E-sports trainer who moves towards standardization in criticism and expectation may be replaced by AI in the future. However, under the strong AI, what fun can humans have in the game world? There is still no answer to this question. In the environment of absolute zero delay, AI's "hand speed" (APM, average number of operations per minute) is dozens of times faster than human beings. Therefore, in order to be "fair", AI should be limited. In the "alphastar" paper published in the journal Nature, the APM of AI is limited to no more than 300. You know, the APM of the top E-sports players in StarCraft is about 330. The purpose of this restriction is undoubtedly to improve the player experience, rather than blindly strive for victory at "machine speed". From this point of view, the so-called AI victory over mankind is just a "conspiracy" between artificial intelligence laboratories and game manufacturers.
