ADB report: rapid trade growth contributes to regional economic integration and recovery

According to a report released by the Asian Development Bank on the 9th, despite the impact of the epidemic and supply chain disruption on Global trade, the rapid growth of trade among economies in the Asia Pacific region will help enhance regional economic resilience, and regional integrated development will help the Asia Pacific economy achieve sustainable recovery. In the report on Asian economic integration in 2022, ADB said that in the first three quarters of last year, the total trade volume of Asia Pacific economies increased by 29.6%, of which intraregional trade increased by 31.2%. The report believes that strong intraregional trade, the release of global market demand and the stable recovery of China's economy constitute the basis of Asia Pacific economic resilience. According to the report, Asia Pacific economies have been integrating in the fields of digital connectivity, environmental cooperation, trade, investment and value chain. The latest measures to promote cross-border trade and investment, such as the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement, will help continue to promote regional trade and economic integration and provide opportunities for sustainable recovery of the regional economy. Park Zhishui, chief economist of ADB, said that the closer ties between trade and value chains among Asia Pacific economies are encouraging signals. Economies should support inclusive and sustainable regional economic growth on the basis of regional economic integration and cooperation.
