The 2021 annual meeting of Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Alliance and university presidents' forum were recently held in Guangzhou Campus of Sun Yat sen University. In 2021, the Council of the alliance decided to add Lingnan Normal University as an acceding college and establish 11 new professional alliances under the framework of the alliance. The theme of the annual meeting was "focus and make a new start". More than 200 representatives from 41 member universities and 37 professional alliances attended the meeting online and offline, including Gao Song, chairman of the alliance and President of Sun Yat sen University, Duan Chongzhi, vice chairman of the alliance and President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, song Yonghua, vice chairman of the alliance and President of the University of Macao. It is reported that the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Alliance was established in 2016 and jointly launched by Sun Yat sen University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Macao. The alliance aims to gather high-quality teaching and research resources of elite universities in the three places, deepen educational exchanges and cooperation among universities in the three places, and jointly build a "one hour academic circle in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao".
