Cross border communication brings novel artistic experience

Standing in the exhibition hall in Beijing, you whisper to the "horn" device. Through the large screen in front of you, you can see it in the real-time monitoring image. The lake water in Wuhan thousands of miles away talks to you with ripples. In the interactive installation work "Water Day", water can "perceive" your emotions and respond with different ripples. On November 16, "going out of the human world" future science and art exhibition was officially opened in UCCA lab exhibition hall of UCCA Ullens Contemporary Art Center and Kuntai Jiarui cultural center. The exhibition brings together 23 groups of art works created by 14 scientists and 17 famous artists to bring novel artistic experience. Fei Jun, creator of "Water Day" and professor of "Art + science and technology" at the school of design of the Central Academy of fine arts, told reporters that the work combines artificial intelligence voiceprint emotion recognition technology and has been supported by experts and teams such as Shan Shiguang, researcher of the Institute of computing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tao Jianhua, researcher of the Institute of automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has been creating for nearly a year. The real-time image seen by the audience is the lake water of Wuhan shimenfeng Memorial Park. The audience's voice input through the "speaker" device in the exhibition hall, through the analysis of the voice by artificial intelligence, can find different emotions such as sadness, happiness, calm and anger. "When the speaker is sad, the water will respond in a cheerful way; when the speaker is angry, the water will respond in a calm and Zen way, bringing spiritual healing to people." Strolling through the exhibition hall, you can also see many "brain holes" art works. The artist Yang Qian's work river of life projects the enlarged cell image onto the ground in the form of multimedia images. The picture of countless cells in Brownian motion is like a vast river. When the audience enters the image space, it interacts with the cell image projected on the ground. The cell image in motion is not only separated and squeezed, but also aggregated, interactive, symbiotic and coexisting. The exhibition also exhibited the work "Schrodinger's magic box" by the late artist Li Hui and scientist pan Jianwei. All black environment is an important condition for quantum experiment. When the audience sits in the "magic box" made of black sponge, iron and wood, they feel "in the same room with Schrodinger's cat" without vision and hearing. The exhibition includes sculptures, devices, media images and other presentation methods, from cosmic black holes to gene chromosomes, from molecular structure diagrams to central nervous system drug experiments. The objects of scientific research have brought rich creative inspiration to the participating artists. Curator Gu Zhenqing said that the number of invited scientists and artists in this exhibition is nearly three times higher than that in 2019, and covers a wider range of scientific research fields. The exhibition tries to make scientists and artists cross the boundaries of their respective fields. "They have a catalyst effect in their cross-border exchanges, so as to produce a fusion effect in a higher dimension of knowledge production." It is reported that the exhibition will be held in the exhibition hall of UCCA lab until January 16, 2022, and the exhibition hall of Kuntai Jiarui cultural center will be held until December 16, 2021. Some works will also be moved to popular science venues for further exhibition, and a public welfare tour is planned to be held throughout the country, in order to bring an experience beyond the ordinary perspective for the whole society, especially the youth group, through the integration of science and art.
