The Phoenix building and wensuoge of the Shenyang Forbidden City were selected as famous historical and cultural buildings in China, becoming the two famous cultural buildings selected outside the pass for the first time. Famous Chinese historical and cultural buildings are the carrier of the long history and culture of the Chinese nation, including buildings, pavilions, important sites and relics that have a significant impact in Chinese history, are recognized by all dynasties, represent the essence of Chinese culture, and retain the traditional architectural style of ancient China. In 2020, Shenyang Palace Museum started the preparatory work for the declaration of famous historical and cultural buildings, and selected Phoenix building and wensuoge for declaration. Phoenix Tower and wensuoge are two famous "Star" buildings in Shenyang Forbidden City. They have witnessed the rise and fall history of Shengjing palace, Shengjing city and even the Qing Dynasty in the Qing Dynasty, and have high historical and cultural value. Phoenix Tower is located on the central axis of the building complex in the middle road of the Imperial Palace in Shenyang. It was built in the year of the Late Jin Tiancong and has a history of nearly 400 years. It is the place for Huang Taiji and his Empress to discuss, study, rest and banquet. It is also the only Xieshan style pavilion in the Imperial Palace at that time. Wensuo Pavilion, built in 1783, is located on the north side of the West Road of the Imperial Palace in Shenyang. It is one of the only two Royal Library Buildings remaining in the "four pavilions of the inner court" of the Qianlong Dynasty and the only library of the Si Ku Quan Shu outside the pass. The building of wensuo Pavilion is modeled on the style of Tianyi Pavilion. The name of "wensuo" is taken from the meaning of "tracing streams and seeking roots". The external appearance of the pavilion is two layers, and the internal is actually three layers, mainly in black, green and other colors, taking the meaning of "water conquers fire" in the five elements. Wensuoge is a historical witness of the prosperous era of Qianlong, and it also promoted the development of education and folk book collection in Shengjing. After wensuoge's Si Ku Quan Shu entered Tibet, the literary atmosphere in Shenyang and even the northeast region was boosted, and patriarchal schools and academies became more and more prosperous. Li Shengneng, curator of Shenyang Palace Museum, said that in order to further explore the historical value and cultural connotation of Shenyang palace museum buildings, build a cultural and tourism brand in Liaoning and Shenyang, strive to explore and launch famous cultural buildings in Liaoning and Shenyang, integrate with existing famous cultural buildings, form famous building effect, expand famous building area, and realize the deep integration of national security units and scenic spots, starting from 2020, Shenyang Palace Museum has begun to prepare for the declaration of famous historical and cultural buildings, which has received the attention and strong support of relevant departments. The success of Fenghuang building and wensuo Pavilion of Shenyang Forbidden City in joining the family of famous Chinese historical and cultural buildings is not only an affirmation of the value of this building and pavilion, but also a broad recognition of the cultural symbols of Liaoning, Shenyang and even northeast China.
