On January 21, Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos and delivered a speech titled "Uphold the Right Path of Multilateralism and Promote Open and Inclusive Development".

Ding Xuexiang said that eight years ago, right here, President Xi Jinping of China delivered an important speech, sounding the clarion call in support of economic globalization, upholding and practicing multilateralism, and working together to create a better world. He provided clear answers on improving global governance and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, offering important guidance to the international community. At present, the profound changes unseen in a century are accelerating, the global governance system is undergoing profound adjustments, and human society has once again reached a crucial crossroads. We should review President Xi Jinping's important speech, strengthen our conviction, work in unity and collaboration, forge ahead hand in hand amidst high winds and choppy waves, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, inject more stability and certainty into the world, and build a just world for common development.

Ding Xuexiang put forward four suggestions: First, jointly promote inclusive and shared economic globalization. Alleviate development difficulties through inclusiveness and pool strength for cooperation through accommodation, find ways to achieve win-win and multi-win results in mutually beneficial cooperation, not only make the "pie" of economic globalization bigger, but also distribute it better. Second, jointly uphold and practice true multilateralism. Firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core, adhere to the concept of global governance featuring extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, ensure equal rights, equal opportunities and equal rules for all countries in international affairs, and foster an open, inclusive and non-discriminatory international economic cooperation environment. Third, jointly shape new drivers and new advantages for world economic development. Promote connectivity in the digital age, strengthen international cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, ensure that scientific and technological achievements benefit all mankind, and enable more countries to catch the fast train of digital economy development. Fourth, jointly address major global challenges such as climate change, food security and energy security. Work together to advance the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and pool a powerful force to overcome difficulties.

Ding Xuexiang introduced the trend characteristics of the Chinese economy. First, high-quality development is being steadily advanced. The Chinese economy has been operating generally smoothly with steady progress. The transformation of old and new drivers of the economy has achieved remarkable results. Emerging industries and future industries are booming, and new productive forces are taking shape at a faster pace. Everyone is full of confidence in future development. China will further intensify its macro policies, implement a more proactive fiscal policy and a moderately loose monetary policy, and promote the effective improvement of the quality and reasonable growth of the quantity of the economy. Second, the transformation towards green and low-carbon development is accelerating in an all-round way. China has built the world's largest and most complete new energy industry chain. No matter how the international situation changes, China's determination and actions to actively respond to climate change will not change. It will persevere in coordinating carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth. Third, reform and opening up are advancing to higher levels. China will build a high-standard socialist market economic system, create a more fair and dynamic market environment, and promote the optimization of resource allocation efficiency and the maximization of benefits. China's door to the outside world will only open wider, and its business environment will only get better. More foreign companies are welcome to invest and do business in China to achieve better development while seizing opportunities.

After the speech, Ding Xuexiang answered questions from Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, on issues such as the international order and artificial intelligence.

During his participation in the event, Ding Xuexiang also met with Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia, Phạm Minh Chính, Prime Minister of Vietnam, Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and others.

On the same day, Ding Xuexiang had in-depth exchanges with international business leaders such as those from Siemens, ABB Group and Blackstone. They spoke highly of the policy measures taken by the Chinese government to promote high-quality development, expressed full confidence in China's development prospects, and said they would continue to pay attention to China and invest in China.（Outlook New Era）
