The daily passenger flow at Gongbei Port has reached a five-year high

2025-01-20

On the 18th, Zhuhai Gongbei Port welcomed over 430000 inbound and outbound passengers, breaking through the 400000 mark for the first time in five years. This was learned by reporters on the 19th from the Gongbei Border Inspection Station of Zhuhai Entry Exit Border Inspection General Station. Hu Hongyu, Deputy Director of Gongbei Border Inspection Station, introduced that since 2025, the passenger flow at Gongbei Port has remained at a high level. As of the 18th, the daily average passenger flow in January was nearly 360000, an increase of more than 20% compared to the same period in 2024. It is expected that the peak passenger flow at Gongbei Port will continue until mid February, and the daily throughput is expected to reach a new high. It is reported that as a super large livelihood port connecting Guangdong and Macao, Gongbei Port has become the preferred passage for residents to travel between Guangdong and Macao due to its convenient transportation conditions and customs clearance environment. Especially during holidays and weekends, mainland residents for cross-border tourism and shopping, and Macau residents for returning home to visit relatives and purchase daily necessities, have become the main groups for travel at Gongbei Port. According to statistics from the Gongbei Inspection Station, since the implementation of the "one week travel" and "one visa multiple travel" policies, the station has inspected more than 50000 people holding such visas for customs clearance. In the two months since the "no need to show documents" channel was opened, nearly 4 million "frequent travelers" from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao have traveled through the channel. In order to cope with the explosive growth of customs clearance passenger flow, the Gongbei Border Inspection Station launched an extreme passenger flow response plan on the 18th, coordinated with multiple joint inspection units, and opened the Exit Entry No. 2 Travel Inspection Hall three times. At the same time, it achieved data exchange and synchronized inspection and release with the Macau police, effectively ensuring the safety, stability, and smoothness of the restricted area at the port. It is reported that in order to ensure the smooth passage of residents in Guangdong and Macao during the Spring Festival travel rush, the Gongbei Border Inspection Station has used big data methods to analyze and judge the passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel rush in advance, and formulated targeted measures to ensure the goal of fast entry and exit in the environment of large influx and outflow of inbound and outbound personnel.
