The International Data Industry Alliance was established in Hong Kong on the 16th, dedicated to creating an important platform for global data cooperation. The alliance aims to promote the healthy development of the data industry, drive technological innovation and application, and enhance the competitiveness of related enterprises and institutions in the global market by integrating resources. It is reported that the alliance is jointly initiated by the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area International Information Technology Association, the Big Data Governance Association, and multiple institutions from mainland China, Hong Kong, and overseas. The establishment ceremony of the alliance was held at the "Summit on Promoting the Flow of Data Elements and Promoting the Development of New Quality Productivity in the Digital Economy" held on the same day. Leung Chun ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Greater Bay Area International Information Technology Association, stated at the summit that the establishment of the alliance is an important milestone and a crucial step for Hong Kong to join hands with the mainland to face the world. It has profound significance for cross-border data flow, compliance governance, and technological cooperation. As an international financial, trade, and shipping center, Hong Kong has unique advantages, including an internationally aligned financial system, rule of law, and other favorable business environments, which provide ideal conditions for the establishment of the International Data Industry Alliance. During the summit, the Financial Secretary of the Special Administrative Region, Paul Chan, stated that Hong Kong, as an international financial center, is actively developing into an international innovation and technology hub. As digital transformation accelerates, it is necessary to make forward-looking arrangements, seize opportunities to inject new momentum into economic growth, and help Hong Kong occupy a more advantageous position in the global digital economy. The International Data Industry Alliance will become an important platform for promoting data exchange and cooperation between the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the international community, supporting Hong Kong's influence and voice in the data field. Liu Guangyuan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, attended the summit and stated that the digital economy has become the most active, rapidly growing, and widely influential field in economic development. Data is a key element of the digital economy and the foundation of digitization, networking, and intelligence. Hong Kong should make good use of its advantages in promoting the flow of data elements, play a role in activating the value of data elements, and demonstrate its role in global data ethics. The summit on that day was hosted by the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area International Information Technology Association, and attendees discussed multiple topics such as "promoting the development of data ecology", "data governance development in Hong Kong", and "digital talent cultivation in the Greater Bay Area".
