Multiple measures taken to promote high-quality 'going global' of enterprises
2025-01-06
As an important engine driving China's economic growth, foreign trade is a crucial hub connecting domestic and international dual circulation. Against the backdrop of the current global economic and trade downturn, China's foreign trade has achieved counter trend growth, demonstrating strong resilience and vitality. Customs data shows that in the first 11 months of 2024, China's total import and export value of goods reached 39.79 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. Among them, exports amounted to 23.04 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.7%; Imports amounted to 16.75 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.4%. From the perspective of product structure, the export of high value-added and high-tech products has grown rapidly, with mechanical and electrical products and integrated circuits showing particularly outstanding performance, demonstrating the continuous improvement of China's position in the global industrial chain. From the perspective of market structure, the importance of emerging markets and regional trade partners is increasingly apparent. In addition to traditional trade partners such as ASEAN, the EU and the United States, the "the Belt and Road" countries have become a new option for Chinese foreign trade enterprises. Data shows that in the first 11 months of 2024, the total import and export value of China and the "the Belt and Road" countries increased by 6% year on year, significantly higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade in the same period. From the perspective of business models, cross-border e-commerce continues to inject new momentum into the development of foreign trade. Data shows that in the first three quarters of 2024, China's cross-border e-commerce import and export volume reached 1.88 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%, which is 6.2 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade during the same period. Meanwhile, the widespread application of digital technologies such as blockchain and big data has greatly improved the efficiency and risk control capabilities of supply chain management. Behind the high-quality "going global" of Chinese enterprises, the support of the following four key factors is indispensable. Firstly, the leading advantage of industrial intelligence and digital transformation. China is at the forefront of global industrial intelligence transformation, especially in the manufacturing industry, where digitalization and intelligence are rapidly advancing, becoming the core driving force for global manufacturing competition. China not only has the world's largest manufacturing capacity, strongest supporting capabilities, and largest consumer market, but also has accumulated rich experience in the implementation of industrial intelligence. Secondly, the global supply chain position of pyramid shaped industrial clusters. China has mature and rich industrial clusters, forming a pyramid shaped manufacturing system. China continues to promote the development of industrial clusters, optimizing the industrial structure and enhancing the competitiveness of specialized, refined, and innovative enterprises, becoming an indispensable core of the global supply chain. Especially in the field of manufacturing, China has a well-established infrastructure, strong innovation capabilities, and production resources, which provide strong competitiveness for Chinese foreign trade enterprises to enter the global market. By creating a pyramid shaped enterprise cluster, Chinese companies can occupy a larger share in the global market and leverage the cluster effect to resist external risks. Once again, there is a revolutionary opportunity brought by big model technology. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, industry models are becoming an important supporting force for Chinese foreign trade enterprises to go global. According to the data, the market size of China's AI large-scale models will be about 29.416 billion yuan in 2024, and it is expected to exceed 70 billion yuan in 2026. Big model technology will reconstruct the competitive landscape of traditional manufacturing and service industries, and provide new growth drivers for Chinese foreign trade enterprises. The application based on large-scale models is bringing unprecedented productivity improvements through multiple fields such as cross-border e-commerce, intelligent customer service, and product design. Finally, there is a new driving force emerging from the collision between cross-border e-commerce and industrial belts. Cross border e-commerce has become an important growth point for China's foreign trade, and a series of policies have been introduced at the national level to support its development. Especially with the addition of industrial belts, a new foreign trade model of "cross-border e-commerce+industrial belts" has been formed, greatly enhancing the market expansion capabilities of foreign trade enterprises. The integration of industrial belts and e-commerce platforms not only helps traditional foreign trade enterprises transform into cross-border e-commerce enterprises, but also promotes the implementation of the dual strategy of "globalization+localization". The key for enterprises to embark on the path of high-quality "going global" lies in opening up new opportunities, expanding channels, promoting transformation, and creating demand. Diversified layout is an important means to resolve the shrinkage of the external demand market. We need to deeply cultivate the super large integrated market composed of the 15 member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), strengthen cooperation with emerging economies such as ASEAN and Mexico, extend industrial and supply chains, and increase the share of intermediate goods exports. At the same time, it is necessary to increase market development efforts in countries and regions jointly built along the "the Belt and Road", actively cooperate with business associations and enterprises in the industry, promote resource sharing and pressure sharing, and jointly respond to market risks. Cross border e-commerce is an important tool for exploring new channels. The transformation of order models requires foreign trade enterprises to adapt to the digital wave, expand their customer base through cross-border e-commerce platforms, and compensate for the decrease in orders in traditional markets through innovative channels. Green transformation is an important direction for responding to changes in the international market. To grasp the rising trend of zero carbon economy and strengthen environmental protection and low-carbon transformation. Faced with environmental requirements such as the EU's "green barriers", Chinese foreign trade enterprises should accelerate the research and development of low-carbon technologies, optimize production processes, and launch products that meet green standards to consolidate their international market position. Demand creation is a key move to break through market difficulties. Foreign trade enterprises should develop products guided by consumer demand. For example, by delving into overseas cultures and lifestyles, developing high value-added and highly functional products, breaking through price competition, and expanding into niche markets. The prosperity of domestic cultural and tourism economy has also provided inspiration for foreign trade. Enterprises can develop derivative products with cultural stories by combining cultural and tourism activities or events, enhance brand recognition through cultural output, and further expand international markets. By taking multiple measures, Chinese foreign trade enterprises can win new opportunities for development in complex environments and achieve high-quality "going global".
