By the end of 2024, the number of listed companies in Hong Kong has increased to 2631

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange announced on the 31st that the number of listed companies in Hong Kong has increased to 2631, an increase of 22 from early 2024. According to the report released by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on initial public offering applications, delisting, and suspension of companies (December 2024), there were 71 newly listed companies in 2024, of which 68 were listed on the main board and 3 on the GEM (Growth Enterprise Market). A total of 49 shares were delisted during the year. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong stabilized at over 20000 points on the last trading day of 2024, with a full year increase of about 17.7%, reversing four consecutive years of decline. The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Paul Chan, recently stated in his blog that the total number of companies from mainland China and overseas stationed in Hong Kong this year is close to 10000, and the number of start-ups is close to 4700, each increasing by 10% year-on-year, both reaching new highs.
