2024-12-17
On the 16th, it was learned from the National Health Commission that in order to adapt to the new situation and requirements of economic and social development, the National Health Commission, together with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments, has orderly carried out the adjustment of the "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases". The original 10 categories of 132 occupational diseases have been adjusted to 12 categories of 135 occupational diseases (including 4 open-ended clauses). The adjusted directory will be implemented from August 1, 2025. Two new categories of occupational diseases have been added to the directory, namely occupational musculoskeletal disorders and occupational mental and behavioral disorders, with one new occupational disease added to each category. Among them, carpal tunnel syndrome has been added to the category of occupational musculoskeletal disorders (limited to manufacturing workers who repeatedly or forcefully work on the wrist for a long time), and post-traumatic stress disorder has been added to the category of occupational mental and behavioral disorders (limited to emergency rescue personnel such as police officers, medical and health personnel, and firefighters involved in emergency response). In addition, bursitis (limited to underground workers) from other occupational disease categories will be adjusted to the category of occupational musculoskeletal diseases; To maintain the uniformity of occupational disease classification, radioactive cataracts in the original occupational eye disease category will be listed separately and adjusted to the occupational radiation disease category; Adjust uranium and its compounds poisoning from the original occupational chemical poisoning category to occupational radiation disease category. At the same time, the relevant occupational disease categories and diseases have been reordered. The relevant person in charge of the Occupational Health Department of the National Health Commission stated that this directory adjustment follows the principle of gradual and steady progress, and filling in the gaps. After the directory adjustment, the statutory occupational disease categories in China are basically consistent with those of the International Labour Organization and most countries in the world. With the development of China's economy and society, the National Health Commission, in conjunction with relevant departments, will continuously adjust and improve the catalog on the basis of sufficient demonstration, and enhance the level of occupational health protection for workers.
