The Ministry of Education requires strengthening artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary schools

Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued a notice to explore ways to implement artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary schools, and strengthen artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary schools. The notice points out the need to establish a systematic curriculum system and implement regular teaching and evaluation. Further improve the requirements for artificial intelligence education in relevant courses, with a focus on perceiving and experiencing artificial intelligence technology in the lower grades of primary school, understanding and applying artificial intelligence technology in the upper grades and middle school, and project creation and cutting-edge applications in the high school stage. Encourage schools in various regions to incorporate artificial intelligence education into after-school service projects and research practices, promote the integration of industry, academia, research and application, and develop a number of artificial intelligence education and learning courses and teaching cases to provide support for teaching. Integrate information technology, science, comprehensive practical activities, labor and other courses and after-school services, and implement them in an integrated manner. The notice emphasizes the need to develop universal teaching resources and build a ubiquitous teaching environment. Set up a section on artificial intelligence education for primary and secondary schools on the National Smart Education Platform, widely gather high-quality educational resources, and achieve the co construction and sharing of high-quality resources. Set up artificial intelligence education bases for primary and secondary schools in batches, promote the opening of artificial intelligence laboratories, exhibition halls and other venues for universities, research institutes and high-tech enterprises to primary and secondary schools, and develop artificial intelligence education resources suitable for primary and secondary school students. The notice proposes to promote the large-scale supply of teachers. Incorporate artificial intelligence education teacher training into the plan to improve the professional level of teachers. Encourage regions and schools with conditions to enrich the teaching staff of artificial intelligence education, actively introduce qualified professional talents from universities, research institutes, and high-tech enterprises as part-time teachers of artificial intelligence. The notice states that diversified communication activities should be organized. Encourage schools to organically integrate artificial intelligence with students' personal, campus, and social lives through various forms of activities, creating a strong artificial intelligence education environment. The notice requires good urban-rural coordination, increased support for schools in rural and remote areas, promotion of teacher mobility, and the use of online platforms to achieve interconnectivity of artificial intelligence education related courses in urban and rural schools.
