Craftsmen are nurtured with ingenuity. Narrator: Gu Qiuliang, a staff member of the Underwater Engineering Research and Development Department of the 702nd Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and the chief assembly fitter of the Jiaolong. In recent years, China's manufacturing industry has accelerated its transformation towards intelligent manufacturing and creativity. From "Chang'e" flying to the moon to "Zhurong" exploring fire, from "Beidou" networking to "Jiaolong" deep-sea diving, behind every major country's heavy equipment and super engineering is the persistence and inheritance of generations of great country craftsmen. The goal of vocational education is to let the seeds of craftsmanship take root and sprout among the student population in the new era, and to inject more high-quality skilled talents with youthful energy into the high-quality development of the country. In order to guide vocational education students to consciously become inheritors, practitioners, and inheritors of the spirit of craftsmanship, I was invited to join the "Fireworks Lecture" pioneer lecturer group of the Precision Manufacturing College of Suzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College, and to tell students about the difficult cases of component assembly technology for the "Jiaolong" ship. I remember during a preaching event, a classmate asked me what "silk" is? Why do everyone call me 'Gu Liangsi'? In order to answer these questions, I demonstrated the basic skills of fitter training on site, allowing students to personally experience the concept of a "strand" that is equivalent to one tenth of a human hair. Next, I told my classmates that the manned submersible "Jiaolong" has over 100000 components, and the precision requirement for sealing reaches the "silk" level. On the shaking sea surface, relying on my own judgment, seeing with my eyes and touching with my hands, even the flatness of the sealing surface of the "Jiaolong" submersible, which was manually polished and repaired, can be controlled within "two threads". Therefore, my colleagues affectionately call me "Gu Liangsi". It is precisely by adhering to the labor spirit of "advocating labor, loving labor, hard work, and honest labor" and the craftsmanship spirit of "meticulousness, excellence, overcoming difficulties, and pursuing excellence" that I have grown step by step from a skilled apprentice to a "non inspection skilled worker", and then to what everyone calls "caring for two threads". Currently, the country attaches great importance to vocational education. I learned from my communication with the teachers that the school's talent training program has always been closely aligned with the development of local industries. The teachers integrate school enterprise cooperation cases into the curriculum teaching, and students carry out skill practice in the training workshop of deep integration between schools and enterprises. This has deeply impressed me with the practicality and charm of modern vocational education. Often, young students take the initiative to exchange their experiences in daily practical training and skill competitions with me after the lecture. I encourage them to have a love for the Party and the motherland, to focus on practicing basic skills, and to steadily walk the path of skill growth and success. What makes me most gratified is that I often see the shining light in the eyes of students and hear the affirmation and praise of teachers. Continuing the torch and inheriting craftsmanship, the youth of the new era have taken the initiative to take over the baton of the times, and I will continue to explore and strive to be a guide for students, helping more students to accelerate their youth on the track of intelligent manufacturing. From migrant worker to new industry worker narrator: Jia Zhiguang, a welder at Chutian Technology Co., Ltd. I used to be a migrant worker. More than 20 years ago, I worked and studied in a factory in Beijing. During lunch break, I would go to the waste pile to find scraps and practice trial welding. The master saw it and said, 'You're pretty good, let's try welding a structural component.' So, I stepped onto the welding position. In 2013, I joined Chutian Technology and learned from a skilled master, which greatly improved my abilities. Welding, every weld and every welding method has different processes. Take the dispensing pipeline of pharmaceutical equipment as an example. It is used to transport drugs and has very high requirements for the internal smoothness of the pipeline. Stainless steel pipelines are connected by welding, and after each connection is welded into shape, every weld seam is required to be "bright". During welding operations, it is necessary to fill the stainless steel pipeline with argon gas to exhaust the air in the pipeline and ensure the formation of the weld seam inside the pipeline. The air flow rate should be adjusted according to different positions. If the air in the pipeline is not completely discharged, the weld seam inside the pipeline will be black and can only be cut off or scrapped. Each weld seam of the pipeline has our steel stamp number, which ensures that it is traceable and enhances the welder's sense of responsibility and professional ethics. Although automatic welding has become popular now, manual welding is still required in certain parts and aspects. For example, in places with many valves in the equipment, the automatic welding machine head cannot be extended, so manual welding is the only option, which requires continuous accumulation of experience. After mastering the method, I kept practicing and my welding became better and better. In 2017, I began to innovate welding processes. What left a deep impression on me was the improvement project of the welding process for the box jacket that I was mainly responsible for trial production. Originally, manual arc welding had low efficiency and was prone to producing porosity, which led to repairs. Later, gas shielded welding was used, which improved product quality and welding efficiency by 30% to 40%. Nowadays, in addition to technical research and development, taking on apprentices has also become one of my work priorities. In 2017, the Chutian Technology Youth Technical Backbone Welder Special Training Class was established, and I served as the backbone trainer. In my spare time, I designed and taught hundreds of hours of theoretical and practical training. The graduates of the special training class have rapidly improved their welding skills and grown into backbone welding professionals in enterprises. They have won numerous awards in provincial and municipal welding skills competitions, which makes me extremely happy. In the future, I will continue to rely on the Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio to recommend, discover, and cultivate more welding skilled talents. Assisting young industrial workers in their growth and success. Speaker: Deng Yuanlong, President of Shenzhen City Vocational College (Shenzhen Technician College). Not long ago, our school held the 2024 Alumni Homecoming Day event, and many alumni returned to the school to discuss and exchange ideas. The three alumni who returned this year left a deep impression on me. Zheng Zhifeng, an alumnus of the School of Applied Biology, said at a symposium that his ample experience in club management and laboratory practice during his school years allowed him to stand out in the professional examination of the first interview and the public examination of the second interview, and ultimately successfully entered a well-known biotechnology company. His experience reminds me of the biotechnology talent training base established by the school and related enterprises in 2019. The school and enterprise jointly build a faculty team, jointly develop student training plans, jointly develop professional courses, jointly establish internships, skills competitions, teaching and research, training bases, etc., and cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents for the industry through the "job+training" model. Zheng Zhifeng admitted to me that although he learned and mastered practical skills during his school years, he lacked depth and breadth in theoretical knowledge. Therefore, he often supplements relevant theoretical knowledge in his spare time. At the same time, he also suggested to me to further optimize the professional curriculum to better meet the needs of industries and enterprises for skilled talents, and to achieve a relative balance between theoretical learning and practical training as much as possible. I am grateful for every valuable suggestion put forward by the alumni, which is the direction for our future improvement. At the meeting, Chen Heng, an alumnus of Sino German Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing, said that it was precisely because he had early exposure to PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming design and robot related knowledge and skills at school that he laid the foundation for his current research and development work. At present, he works with hundreds of highly educated engineers and his skills are not inferior. I am pleased to say that he went from graduating from a vocational college to becoming an independent electrical engineer at Shenzhen Advanced Technology Research Institute in less than 3 years. Cheng Chen is a graduating student of the School of Information and Communication Technology in 2024. He currently works as a solution architect for a well-known communication company in Shenzhen, committed to providing efficient and innovative cloud service solutions for enterprise customers. "At school, I joined the cloud computing club, deeply learned Internet technology, and obtained several skill certificates," he said. The growth experiences of Zheng Zhifeng, Chen Heng, and Cheng Chen are a microcosm of our school's efforts to assist young industrial workers in achieving success, reflecting the achievements of the new generation of vocational education in cultivating high skilled talents. As one of the first high-level technician colleges in Guangdong Province and the first vocational college established on the basis of a technician college, Shenzhen City Vocational College (Shenzhen Technician College) is aiming for the development of new quality productivity, accelerating the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents who are application-oriented, composite, innovative, digital, and international. Constantly innovating in the splashing of welding flowers, narrated by Zhang Tengjiao, a senior technician and engineer in the assembly workshop of Shengu Group. Looking back on his more than 20 years of work experience, I have witnessed the tremendous changes in the workshop with my own eyes. From producing two or three compressors per month to now producing around forty compressors per month, the rapid development of the industry has placed increasingly strict demands on the skills of frontline workers. Continuous learning has always been my magic weapon for solving technical problems and adapting to the needs of industrial development. As a frontline welder, the most common job I come into contact with in the workshop is welding compressor pipelines. I remember when practicing the technique of single-sided welding and double-sided forming using manual arc welding on the inclined plate, I tried to use the direct current reverse arc breaking operation method to avoid porosity defects, but problems such as sticking welding rods, arc deviation, and back indentation followed one after another. In order to find a solution, I repeatedly went to bookstores to search for information, integrated the essence of various technologies, and finally developed a unique welding process, which not only made the specimen form beautiful, but also achieved first-class defect free radiographic testing. Later, I further improved and summarized this method, forming two operational methods: "Single sided welding and double-sided forming of overhead plate manual arc welding" and "Single sided welding and double-sided forming of carbon dioxide gas shielded welding flux cored wire", which solved multiple production bottlenecks. The improvement of skills has given me the opportunity to participate in more key projects. In 2011, China's first million ton ethylene compressor was successfully tested in Shengu. During this process, I successfully solved dozens of technical problems such as repairing welded casings and modifying stainless steel pipelines. This also inspires me to aspire to become a skilled craftsman. The improvement of skills cannot be achieved without daily study and practice. When solving the welding problem of the key component seal of the compressor, I faced a sealing tooth tip with a thickness only three times that of a human hair, and made of aluminum with many impurities and extremely poor weldability. Welding such components is like embroidering on a blade. After thousands of repeated practices and experiments, I have summarized the "Aluminum Sealing Tooth Tip Welding Repair Method", which breaks the precedent in the field of sealing welding at home and abroad and significantly reduces the scrap rate. This technology was applied in the production of China's first natural gas long-distance pipeline compressor. Every improvement in skills and innovation in technology brings me great joy and satisfaction. To this day, I still maintain a record of one successful X-ray inspection of welded pipelines without any repairs. In the "Double Increase and Double Festival" activity of the unit, I proposed more than ten technological innovations and rationalization suggestions. With only one project, the renovation of stainless steel pipelines for oil inlet and return, the enterprise can save at least 3 million yuan annually. I am well aware of the truth that 'when people gather firewood, the flame burns high', so I have established an online communication platform to share my knowledge and experience without reservation. In my spare time, I voluntarily provide technical training for employees of other companies. In the future, I will uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, constantly learn new knowledge, and be brave in exploring and innovating. Looking forward to working together with more peers to contribute the solid strength of frontline workers to the high-quality development of the industry. (New Society)
