According to the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, on November 28th, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission released a summary of the nationwide investigation and punishment of violations of the spirit of the eight central regulations in October 2024. In that month, a total of 22603 violations of the spirit of the Central Eight point Regulation were investigated and dealt with nationwide, with 31679 people criticized, educated, and dealt with. Among them, 22394 people were disciplined by the Party and government, marking the 134th consecutive month of monthly report data being released. From the perspective of the types of problems investigated and dealt with, in terms of fulfilling duties, serving economic and social development, and protecting the ecological environment, failure to take responsibility, inaction, disorderly behavior, and false behavior seriously affected high-quality development. In October, a total of 9664 problems were investigated and dealt with, accounting for 88.7% of the total number of formalism and bureaucracy problems investigated and dealt with that month. The three types of issues investigated in October, including illegal collection and delivery of precious specialties and gifts, illegal eating and drinking, and illegal distribution of subsidies or benefits, accounted for 50.6%, 23.4%, and 15.1% of the hedonism and extravagance issues investigated that month, respectively. From the perspective of investigation and punishment levels, in October, a total of 107 cases were investigated and punished for leading cadres at the prefecture level, 1334 cases were investigated and punished for leading cadres at the county level, and 21162 cases were investigated and punished for cadres at or below the township level. Among them, issues involving cadres at or below the township level accounted for 93.6% of the total number of problems investigated and dealt with. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection pointed out that a sound mechanism for investigating and treating corruption should be established, which not only "checks corruption by the wind" to prevent "covering corruption with the wind" and digging deep into corruption issues such as entrusting tasks and transferring benefits behind corrupt practices, but also "corrects corruption by the wind" and thoroughly investigates the problems of hedonism and extravagance behind corruption. Disciplinary inspection and supervision organs at all levels should identify the problems in their respective regions, units, and fields that are most closely related to misconduct and corruption, and are most likely to evolve into corruption. They should discover and investigate them together. We need to improve the mechanism of simultaneous analysis and treatment of corruption, fully utilize the resources of investigation and punishment cases, combine with the political ecology of the involved areas and units, focus on strengthening the analysis of the intersection of corruption and corruption, promote the plugging of loopholes in the institutional problems exposed by cases, and carry out special rectification of common work style problems.
