The 9th Symposium on "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law was held in Macau on the 26th. Experts and scholars attending the conference conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the theme of the conference, providing suggestions and recommendations for the future development of Macau and Hong Kong, as well as the stable and far-reaching implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy. The seminar, with the theme of "Standing at a New Development Starting Point, Creating a Better Tomorrow for Macau", was attended by about 180 guests from academia, law, politics, finance, publishing, culture, and other fields. The seminar is hosted by Zijing Magazine and Tian Da Research Institute, with guidance from the National Hong Kong and Macao Research Association and Zijing Culture Group. Zhang Yongchun, Secretary for Administration and Justice of the Macao SAR Government, stated in his opening speech that since Macao's return to the motherland, with strong support from the central government and the mainland, the "One Country, Two Systems" practice with Macao's characteristics has achieved remarkable achievements that have attracted worldwide attention. Macao needs to accelerate the moderate diversification of its economy, continue to adhere to and continuously promote the development positioning of "one center, one platform, one base", do a good job in the moderate diversification of Macao's economy, enhance Macao's ability to resist risks, and achieve healthy and sustainable development in Macao. Zhang Guojun, Deputy Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated that the National Constitution and the Basic Laws of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions formulated in accordance with the Constitution provide a solid legal foundation and constitutional basis for the implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy. Standing at a new starting point of development, Hong Kong and Macao, the two special administrative regions, should focus on the future, work together with the nine cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area to grasp the unique advantages of "one country, two systems, and three legal domains", deepen cooperation, promote construction, and enhance their leading role in national economic development and all-round opening up. Hu Xianzheng, director of Zijing Culture Group, stated that Macau has reached a new historical starting point and will achieve better development in the future. It is necessary to inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of loving the country and Macau, and draw the largest concentric circle of loving the country and Macau; We need to consolidate and enhance our traditional advantages, actively explore new industries and formats, and cultivate new drivers of economic growth; We need to deeply integrate and develop with our motherland, seize policy dividends and opportunities for the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Li Huiqiong, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that Hong Kong and Macao have always had deep social ties. On this basis, the two regions should explore new ways and measures of social and economic cooperation between the two sides with a positive attitude and innovative thinking in combination with the new process of national reform and opening up and the respective development plans of Hong Kong and Macao, so as to add new momentum to the cooperation and development of the Greater Bay Area. In the keynote speech segment, more than ten experts, scholars, and attending representatives shared their views and opinions from different perspectives around the theme of the seminar. The seminar on "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law has been successfully held for nine sessions since 2016, and this year it was held for the first time in Macau, receiving high attention and enthusiastic response from various sectors in Macau.
