35 oil painters make a color pact with Mount Lu

2024-11-27

The Mount Lu in November is sprinkled with fiery red and golden hues, which is quite suitable for oil painting language with rich color expression. Recently, 35 oil painting masters from 20 cities gathered in Jiujiang, Jiangxi to depict this historic city with over 2200 years of history. These selected sketches will be exhibited at the Jiujiang Art Museum from December 28, 2024 to January 24, 2025, marking the New Year's Eve. In this "Shanjianghu City · Lushan Painting School Theme Creation Activity", artists visited the most representative cultural and natural landscapes in Jiujiang, such as Lushan, Guanyin Bridge, Bailudong Academy, Yangtze River National Cultural Park (Jiujiang urban section), Pipa Pavilion, Shizhongshan, etc., within 7 days. Oil painting masters have carefully felt and recorded with notes, creating more than 160 oil painting works in total. The theme of 'Lushan Pine' has been chosen by many artists. On the first night of arriving at Mount Lu, Professor Wu Changjiang of the Central Academy of Fine Arts was attracted by the sound of wind blowing pine waves. Over the next two days, he devoted himself to depicting the vibrant and lively Mount Lu pine trees. He said, "The many factors of nature have created the posture of pine trees, such as sunlight, rain, terrain... Since ancient times, there have been countless famous artists who paint and sing about pine trees. Pine trees represent human character and the spirit of the times." Young oil painters either use concrete methods to depict the natural beauty of Mount Lu, or use abstract language to express the feelings that Mount Lu brings to themselves, or use surrealistic techniques to reflect the humanistic stories of Mount Lu. Like Liang Zhilong's "Lushan Diary" series, which depicts different landscapes around Lushan, each work has specific characters or animals appearing - tourists taking photos to check in, immortals returning by phoenix, stone deer in Bailudong Academy... It allows people to experience the relationship between nature and culture. This event is hosted by Jiujiang Art Museum and Jiujiang City Promotion Office of Lushan Painting School, and organized by Art China. (New Society)
