2024-11-25
The 25th Tunisian Carthage Theatre Festival kicked off on the evening of the 23rd in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. The Sino foreign collaborative play "The Return of the Star" was performed at the Tunisian Cultural City that evening. Tunisian Minister of Culture Amina Slafi, representatives of the diplomatic mission to Tunisia, and over 700 local spectators watched the performance. This performance is the first overseas performance of "Star Return" after its premiere at the Daliangshan Drama Festival in China on November 8th. The play was created by Samoan artist Remi Burkina Faso and performed by local actors from Liangshan, China. The work uses literary singing, folk rituals, agricultural dances, and other forms of expression to lead the audience to ponder philosophical propositions about where they come from and where they are going. Tunisian audience Chedeli Arabiya told Xinhua News Agency reporters that this drama helped him understand the process of humanity returning to its roots. Saudi Arabian audience member Ahmed Jasir said that this was his first time watching a drama performed by a Chinese artist, and the combination of live stage performance and music was excellent, leaving a deep impression on him. The current Tunisian Carthage Theatre Festival will be held from November 23rd to 30th, featuring 125 performances from 32 countries and regions. (New Society)
