How to meet the simultaneous internet needs of tens of thousands of people in the stadium with the highest attendance rate in the Chinese Super League? How to deliver takeout to the Great Wall where eagles fly and tilt? How to use traditional telephone booths to achieve one click car hailing, one click alarm, and one click medical delivery... Recently, Beijing Unicom and Huawei officially released the world's first 5G-A scale three-dimensional smart network. By connecting the network well, the signal can be upgraded again, making these seemingly "impossible" become "possible". This exploration and practice of innovative development, secure development, and inclusive development in cyberspace has built a digital foundation for smart cities and depicted a better "digital future" picture. At the recent "5G Capital Roadshow -5G-A City Lights Up" event held in Beijing, the reporter personally experienced the world's first 5G-A scale three-dimensional smart network: continuously and quickly flashing multiple short videos without lagging, opening 4K high frame rate long videos and dragging the progress bar freely without lagging, playing cloud games on mobile phones without lagging... These are exactly the characteristics of the 5G-A network - higher speed, larger connection, and lower latency bring changes to user experience. According to Huawei technology experts, 5G-A is a critical stage in the evolution from 5G to 6G. Compared to 5G, 5G-A is 10 times faster and can support 10 gigabit experiences and billions of connections. The downstream experience has been upgraded from 1Gbps (current 5G network capacity) to 10Gbps, and the upstream experience has increased from 0.1Gbps to 1Gbps. At present, this innovative network has achieved continuous coverage of 5G-A in areas such as Beijing's Fourth Ring Road and the city's sub center. It has utilized high and low frequency networking at the Workers' Stadium to create a globally leading 5G-A smart commercial complex. At the same time, the industry's first 5G-A 10 gigabit air ground integrated network demonstration has been deployed in the Great Wall Scenic Area, and a "5G-A Low altitude Economic Innovation Base" has been built. The world's first 5G-A scale three-dimensional smart network is not only an innovative network, but also a more secure network. At the Beijing Unicom building, the reporter witnessed the entire process of 5G-A site self opening: a media reporter, under the guidance of staff, achieved remote base station opening in just a few minutes. Behind this is a complete set of 5G-A site end-to-end self opening process established by Beijing Unicom based on the 5G intelligent operation platform in a lightweight scenario. Not only did it shorten the 5G-A base station opening time from days to minutes, but it also significantly reduced network security risks with zero manual intervention. This ultra large scale 5G-A 3CC (triple carrier aggregation) commercial network is still "growing" and has covered various key scenarios such as sports venues, schools, scenic spots, subways, commercial districts, and residential areas. In the continuous coverage areas of Beijing's Fourth Ring Road and urban sub centers, the 5G-A effective rate has exceeded 85%, providing strong network capability support for immersive video, ultra high definition live streaming, cloud gaming and other applications. Not only does Beijing Unicom have wider coverage and stronger capabilities, but it also combines 5G-A 3CC network capabilities with traditional telephone booths to provide services such as one click navigation, one click car hailing, one click alarm, and one click medical delivery, benefiting millions of people in Beijing. High bandwidth will bring a rapid improvement in user experience, and only when the network capacity reaches 10 Gigabit, can everyone effortlessly achieve gigabit Yang Lifan, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Unicom, said, "This time, we have brought a 5G-A scale three-dimensional smart network to Beijing Unicom's users, achieving 5G-A global illumination. We are confident that based on Huawei's advanced technology and Beijing Unicom's intelligent operation capabilities, we will continue to provide users with a doubled 'Beijing' network experience in the future. The Beijing Workers' Stadium, built in 1959, is one of the first batch of 'Top Ten Buildings' in the capital, empowering urban renewal. In 2023, the total area of the renovated and reconstructed "New Construction" main building will reach 380000 square meters, with a total of 68000 seats on site. A city sports park and lake area covering a total area of 130000 square meters will also be built, becoming a professional football field and an open city sports park in Beijing. Due to its location in the core area of the city, the New Workers' Stadium, known as the "number one attendance rate in the Chinese Super League", faces a challenge in dealing with the skyrocketing flow of people, traffic, and information during major sports events and concerts. The world's thickest high-low frequency three-dimensional network provides strong support for solving this problem. It is reported that Beijing Unicom has teamed up with Zhonghe Group, Gitworth Engineering Metaverse, and Huawei to create a globally leading 5G-A three-dimensional network super network at the new engineering venue. Based on the deployment of 5G-A 3CC sites both inside and outside the construction site, the world's thickest 5G-A 10 Gigabit collaborative network has been achieved. Through actual testing, the network has a peak downlink speed of 11.2Gbps, a peak uplink speed of 4Gbps, and a peak downlink speed of over 9Gbps for mobile networks. Combined with flexible subframe allocation technology, it ensures that 68000 viewers can still smoothly watch real-time hypermedia content such as 1080P videos and ultra high definition shallow compressed live broadcasts in large traffic scenarios. In addition, the surrounding subway stations and shopping malls have achieved 5G-A three-dimensional coverage, bringing a more stable super network experience to citizens and tourists. Not only does the network experience improve, but also with the support of 5G-A network capabilities and technologies such as cloud, XR, and ultra high definition shallow compression, Gitworth Engineering Metaverse continues to optimize the original metaverse application experience such as "I am the King of the Ball" based on the world's first landmark level project metaverse center open to the public, and innovatively creates a new paradigm of "immersive" metaverse experience based on location-based services LBS. Interacting with the playful and adorable Beijing Guoan Club digital personality Leo, playing a thrilling soccer game in the metaverse king competition, wearing VR glasses and choosing the VIP seat with the best perspective to watch the game in person... More and more new experiences and applications are enriching the metaverse and opening up more dimensions of urban renewal imagination. In the future, the 5G-A network will also help achieve faster and safer payments, precise navigation, unmanned ticketing, smart parking, and fast and orderly evacuation in scenarios such as travel and shopping in the construction area, further enhancing the consumer experience of integrating data and reality. Industry insiders pointed out that the 5G-A three-dimensional networking super network created by the new construction site is an excellent practice of 5G-A's application in the field of mega city renewal complexes. In the future, this paradigm will also be extended to more sports venues, commercial districts, and subways in the urban area of Beijing, comprehensively enhancing the city's digital and intelligent network capabilities. The innovative practice of the new construction team is just a microcosm of 5G-A empowering various industries. In the capital city of Beijing, the ancient Great Wall has also shown new vitality under the empowerment of 5G-A. In the Great Wall Scenic Area, the Yanqing District Government of Beijing has collaborated with Beijing Unicom to deploy 5G-A mega base stations on a large scale, achieving continuous coverage of the ground and low altitude in the Great Wall area, meeting the integrated coverage of open spaces below 300 meters. Through technological innovations such as ultra large scale antenna arrays, fish scale interference control, and intelligent coordination between heaven and earth, this three-dimensional networking paradigm has promoted the network from "ground facing communication" to "integrated sensing between heaven and earth", achieving communication and perception of "low speed and small" flying objects, and providing solid support for the innovative development of low altitude economy. Yanqing District became the only civil unmanned aerial vehicle pilot zone approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2020, and was designated as a demonstration zone for unmanned aerial vehicles in Beijing in 2024. It is an important area for the development of Beijing's low altitude economy. Relying on the 5G-A 10 Gigabit ultra large bandwidth network capability, tourists can now live stream, share videos, and take drone aerial photos anytime and anywhere in the Great Wall scenic area. They can also take a helicopter to overlook the magnificent scenery of the Great Wall, experience aerial internet access, and even order takeout from the highest arrow tower, experiencing drone delivery service in as fast as 5 minutes. Not only that, for the management of scenic spots, drones also undertake important tasks such as cleaning up garbage and transporting emergency medicine. From the new experience of smart cultural tourism to the establishment of the Great Wall's "3-kilometer 15 minute reach" low altitude smart logistics network, 5G-A will incubate more applications in low altitude tourism, logistics, emergency rescue and other scenarios in the future, effectively solving problems such as poor low altitude signals and difficult control of drone black flights, and helping the capital's low altitude economy to flourish. According to the reporter's understanding, as early as 2020, Beijing Unicom and Huawei launched the 5G Capital joint innovation project, which deeply integrates urban development needs with 5G technology applications to help the capital Beijing refine urban operations, better respond to challenges such as transportation, tourism, and urban safety in the digital governance of super large cities, and accelerate its progress towards becoming a global smart city benchmark. In 2024, Beijing Unicom actively responded to Beijing's "City of Optical Networks and Ten Gigabit City" action plan, laid out the construction of "Dual Ten Gigabit" infrastructure, and promoted the completion of 5G-A scale networking demonstration. Through technological innovation breakthroughs, it brought the vision of typical 5G-A urban areas to reality with high and low frequency collaborative 1:1 networking. In January of this year, Beijing Unicom and Huawei collaborated with industry partners to carry out a series of technological and business innovations, as well as network verification, around 5G-A, achieving continuous coverage of three key scenarios: Financial Street, Long Distance Telephone Building, and Workers' Stadium. In these areas, users can experience innovative services such as 10G downstream, 1G upstream, naked eye 3D, and ultra high definition shallow compression created in collaboration with CCTV. In just 10 months, the 5G-A network has "expanded" coverage to areas within the Fourth Ring Road and the urban sub center, achieving a "thicker" high and low frequency three-dimensional network in the new construction site, and deploying a "higher" 10 gigabit integrated air ground network demonstration in the Great Wall scenic area. Industry insiders have revealed that with the successful exploration of personnel intensive scenarios such as the New Gongti and Yanqing Great Wall Scenic Area, the coverage of 5G-A digital municipal management end-to-end solutions will continue to expand, application scenarios will continue to expand, and industrial supporting facilities will gradually improve. It is worth noting that 2024 is the "first year" of AI (artificial intelligence) entering the market. AI has become the first business to be popularized on both fixed and mobile devices, and is evolving towards diverse AI terminals such as mobile phones, watches, glasses, transportation vehicles, and embodied intelligent robots. It is expected that the global shipment of AI terminals will reach 170 million by the end of this year, with over 3 million apps featuring AI functionality. The entry of AI will undoubtedly give rise to more intelligent software and hardware, and there is an urgent need for more comprehensive and advanced 5G-A network infrastructure capabilities. Huawei will continue to innovate and help Beijing Unicom build a universal 5G-A high-quality network, embracing more opportunities in the era of mobile network AI Huawei 5Glt; Li Jie, President of the TDD field, said at the "5G Capital Road Meeting -5G-A City Lights Up" event. Global 5G looks to China, and Beijing has always been at the forefront of China's 5G construction. In the future, the technological changes brought by 5G-A will inject new momentum into Beijing, a millennium old capital, and provide strong impetus for the construction of Beijing as an international consumption center and a benchmark city for the digital economy.
