2024-11-22
The first world vocational education cooperation organization led by China, the World Federation for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education, was officially established on the 21st at the 2024 World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education held in Tianjin, witnessed by hundreds of foreign guests from more than 100 countries and regions around the world. At present, 89 institutions including higher education institutions, vocational and technical colleges, industry enterprises, and educational organizations from 43 countries and regions have joined the alliance as the first batch of members, including representatives from 64 institutions, 12 enterprises, and 13 industry associations and educational organizations. More than two-thirds of the members of the alliance are foreign vocational education related institutions, fully reflecting its global nature. At the same time, the alliance covers various institutions related to vocational education, such as colleges, enterprises, and industries, involving a wide range of industries. Representatives from various industries and related institutions have joined the alliance An Yan, Deputy Secretary General of the Secretariat of the China Education International Exchange Association, said. The alliance aims to build the widest, most balanced, representative, and inclusive international platform for vocational education, and its establishment took two years. At the first World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education held in 2022, the China Association for International Exchange in Education, in conjunction with global vocational education stakeholders, launched an initiative to establish the World Alliance for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education. It called on the global education, industry, and other social organizations and intellectuals to work together to build a close, open, and inclusive global vocational education partnership, which received a positive and enthusiastic response. On November 20th, the China Education International Exchange Association, as the secretariat of the alliance establishment group, successfully convened the first general meeting of all members of the alliance. At the meeting, the alliance charter was passed, the first chairman of the alliance council was announced, and the first council was elected. The launch of the World Alliance for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education at this conference is a timely initiative that aligns with our vision for global cooperation, "said Mufelia Camille, Minister of Labour and Skills of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia." Ethiopia is committed to actively participating in this global community of practice. "Simone Mireira Mikulescu, President of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, stated that skills will become a" passport "to survive in the increasingly complex environment. Therefore, it has become particularly important for all parties, from companies to social organizations, governments, and learning institutions, to work together towards vocational education. The establishment of the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Alliance initiated by China is commendable. (New Society)
