The exquisite and lively red gold walking dragon, the colorful and lifelike tri colored camel riding and music playing figurine, the uniquely shaped and exquisitely crafted inlaid turquoise phoenix gold decoration, and the plump and elegant painted female pottery figurine... Walking into the underground exhibition hall of the National Museum of Asian Art in Jimei, France, walking between exquisite cultural relics and decorations full of Eastern aesthetic colors, the brilliant and confident atmosphere of the prosperous Tang Dynasty is overwhelming, making people feel as if they have traveled back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty more than a thousand years ago. From November 20th this year to March 3rd next year, the exhibition "China · Tang - A Diverse and Open Dynasty (7th to 10th Centuries)" will be open to the public at the Jimei Museum in Paris. This exhibition combines cultural relics display and multimedia technology to vividly showcase the brilliant material and spiritual civilization achievements of the Tang Dynasty, as well as its profound historical influence, through eight units: "Approaching the Tang Dynasty", "Chang'an: the world's largest city", "Leju Chang'an", "Embracing the Hundred Rivers", "Literary World", "Technological Excellence", "Tang Silk Road", and "Setting Sail to the Sea, Connecting the World". As an important cultural exchange event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, this exhibition brings together more than 200 exquisite cultural relics from 32 cultural and museum institutions in 10 provinces, regions, and municipalities in China, including gold and silverware, pottery figurines, fabrics, murals, stone statues, calligraphy and painting, and many other types. Among them, treasures unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple, the cellar of Hejia Village, and the cellar of Dingmao Bridge have gathered for the first time in France for exhibition. We hope to lead the audience closer to the once world-renowned metropolis of Chang'an through these cultural relics. On this land, different ethnic groups and cultures are interconnected and influence each other, making it full of various possibilities Arnold Bertrand, one of the French curators of this exhibition and the custodian of the Korean and Ancient Chinese collections at the Jimei Museum, told reporters. The Silk Road experienced prosperous development in the Tang Dynasty, and its historical significance lies in establishing connections between different regions and civilizations, serving as an important symbol of civilization dialogue Yannick Linz, the director of the Jimei Museum, said. In line with this "Silk Road spirit", the Jimei Museum, which has a rich collection of Asian art, has been committed to serving as a "gateway to China" for Europeans for many years. This year, it has organized and hosted a series of Chinese cultural and artistic activities, aiming to attract Western audiences to explore the profound Chinese civilization and promote mutual understanding between Chinese and Western people. In the future, Linz hopes to bring the treasures of the Jimei Museum to China for exhibitions. The exhibition was held under the guidance of the National Cutural Heritage Administration of China and the French Ministry of Culture, and was included in the list of excellent cultural exchanges between China and France in 2024. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2014, the "Han Style - Chinese Han Dynasty Cultural Relics Exhibition" jointly organized by China and France also appeared at the Jimei Museum.
