It is reported that Babcock Group has carried out a lot of work in the early stage, including designing and constructing professional dock facilities, removing reactor systems and low-level radioactive nuclear waste, and processing and safely transporting waste through sustainable waste treatment facilities. After completing comprehensive radiation testing, the pressure vessel around the reactor compartment will be dismantled. The 'Fast' nuclear submarine will serve as a demonstration project and become the first retired nuclear submarine in the UK to be completely dismantled and disposed of. According to the plan, the vessel will be dismantled before 2026. The disposal of retired nuclear submarines has been a concern for the British Navy for decades. The retired nuclear submarines of the country have been stored in abandoned military ports for a long time, and some nuclear submarines have been stored for a longer period of time than their service life.
