Shenzhen Bay and Gongbei ports pilot the use of "no need to present documents" border inspection channels

2024-11-15

The Exit Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China issued a notice on the 15th, stating that in order to further facilitate personnel exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and improve customs clearance efficiency, starting from November 20, 2024, some border inspection fast channels will be upgraded in Shenzhen Bay Port and Gongbei Port in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. Personnel who frequently travel to Hong Kong and Macao for personal reasons can pass through the "no need to show documents" channel. According to the announcement, mainland residents who are over 14 years old, hold valid entry and exit permits for Hong Kong and Macau, as well as multiple valid visas for staying, visiting relatives, business, talent, and other types of travel to Hong Kong and Macau, and Hong Kong and Macau residents who hold valid entry and exit permits for Hong Kong and Macau residents (including non Chinese nationals), and agree to the collection and verification of facial and fingerprint information by the border inspection authorities, can choose to use the "no need to present documents" channel at the border inspection site for passage, without the need to present physical entry and exit documents. Those who choose to pass through other inspection channels must present their valid entry and exit documents to undergo entry and exit border inspections. Mainland residents holding official entry and exit documents are currently not eligible for the "no need to present documents" channel and should still undergo entry and exit border inspections through other inspection channels. Notice reminder: Mainland residents entering Hong Kong and Macau require a certificate for inspection. Hong Kong and Macau residents need a certificate to handle matters such as suspension of residence and travel when entering the mainland. All personnel traveling between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macau should still carry their valid entry and exit documents with them. If you encounter any problems, you can consult the 12367 service hotline. The relevant person in charge of the National Exit and Entry Administration introduced that the pilot implementation of the "no need to show documents" channel clearance and inspection method, which replaces "brushing certificates" with "facial recognition", is a technological innovation and upgrade of the current fast clearance and inspection method of border inspection. It helps optimize and simplify the passenger clearance and inspection process, improve the passenger travel experience, facilitate personnel exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the better integration of Hong Kong and Macao into the overall development of the country. This is of great significance. (New Society)
