The remaining cabinet members remain unchanged. On November 11th, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba attended a press conference at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo, Japan. Xinhua News Agency (Pool photo, taken by Ota Jie) Due to the disastrous defeat of the ruling coalition formed by the Liberal Democratic and Komeito parties in the House of Representatives election on October 27th, they failed to win a majority of seats, and the new Ishiba Shigeru cabinet became a minority cabinet. Shigeru Ishiba was elected as the new president of the Liberal Democratic Party on September 27th, and as prime minister on October 1st. On October 9th, he announced the dissolution of the House of Representatives and early elections, setting a record for the fastest dissolution of the House of Representatives after a post-war prime minister was elected. In the House of Representatives election held on October 27th, the Liberal Democratic Party lost its single majority of seats in the House of Representatives for the first time since returning to power in 2012, and even together with its ruling partner Komeito Party, it failed to gain a majority. The Japanese Constitution stipulates that a special parliament must be convened within 30 days after the election of the House of Representatives to elect the Prime Minister. (New Society)
