2024-11-13
The Taosi Site Museum, located in Xiangfen County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, officially opened on the 12th. This is the first time that the Taosi civilization, dating back approximately 4300 to 3900 years, has been presented to the audience in a centralized and systematic manner. The Taosi Site is a metropolitan site with early national characteristics and is also one of the representative sites for exploring the origin of Chinese civilization. The Taosi Site Museum is a thematic site museum built based on Taosi culture, with an exhibition area of about 5000 square meters, displaying 230 pieces (sets) of cultural relics such as pottery, jade, bone, bronze, lacquered wood, etc. In addition, a dedicated exhibition hall called "Taosi Archaeology" has been set up to showcase the archaeological process and unremitting efforts made by several generations of archaeologists to explore the Taosi civilization since the official excavation of the Taosi site. Focusing on the theme of "Light of Nature and Civilization", the exhibition features three basic display units: "Civilization Accumulation", "Glorious City", and "Early Countries", two special exhibitions, and one immersive digital exhibition. It presents the early form of Chinese civilization from multiple angles, in all directions, and in three dimensions, and deeply interprets the grand atmosphere and magnificent scenery of the Taosi site as an early national capital. Li Qun, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and director of the National Cutural Heritage Administration, said that the new archaeological discoveries and research progress of the Taosi site have provided new materials for the exploration of ancient history, which is a powerful demonstration and vivid portrayal of the pluralistic, inclusive and continuous nature of Chinese civilization. The completion and opening of the Taosi Site Museum showcases the outstanding achievements of Taosi culture in urban planning and construction, handicraft production, and artistic creation in a panoramic manner. Taosi Relics Museum has opened an online booking window service platform, and visitors can book tickets online through the official website or WeChat official account. (New Society)
