The cargo space shuttle 'Haolong' is undergoing comprehensive engineering development
2024-11-12
On November 11th, Zhang Jichao, Deputy General Manager of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, stated that China's independently designed and developed cargo space shuttle "Haolong" has completed its conceptual design and is currently undergoing comprehensive engineering development, striving to achieve the first space station cargo transportation mission as soon as possible. Zhang Jichao made the above statement at the press conference of the 15th China Air Show. The 'Haolong' cargo space shuttle is launched by a commercial carrier rocket and can rendezvous and dock with China's space station. After completing the up and down movement of the cargo, it can return autonomously without power and land horizontally at the designated airport Zhang Jichao said that the "Haolong" cargo space shuttle has outstanding reusability, which can re-enter the atmosphere for flight, land horizontally, and take into account both upward and downward transportation of the space station. It realizes the recovery, disposal, and reuse of spacecraft flights, greatly reducing the reuse cycle and single mission cost of cargo spacecraft. Compared with traditional cargo spacecraft, it has better economy and downward transportation capability. At the press conference, the Aviation Industry Group played a demonstration animation of the "Haolong" cargo space shuttle docking with the Chinese space station and returning to autonomous landing. Wu Jiwei, spokesperson for Aviation Industry Corporation of China, stated that the "Haolong" cargo space shuttle is a new starting point for China Aviation Industry Corporation to leverage its aviation technology advantages and develop commercial aerospace products. The 'Carmen Line' that separates the atmosphere from space is not our dividing line. Space is vast enough to accommodate enough technological routes from around the world to explore, expand, and succeed Wu Jiwei said. (New Society)
