The 2024 6th Daliangshan Drama Festival, themed "Drama Connecting the World," recently opened in Xichang City, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The play 'Star Return', jointly produced by the International Theatre Association, the Chinese Dramatists Association, the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and the Liangshan Cultural Tourism Group, was staged as the opening act. The drama cleverly connects avant-garde art with traditional culture, representing an innovation in the modern expression of traditional culture. All the actors in the drama come from Liangshan, and their performances present contemporary expressions of traditional culture such as singing, agricultural dance, and the Torch Festival. Since its establishment in 2019, the Daliangshan Drama Festival has been using drama as a medium to tell the world the stories of Daliangshan and China. According to the organizing committee of the Daliangshan Drama Festival, with "Star Return" as a new starting point, the festival will continue to promote original drama and bring more Chinese dramas to the international stage. Over the past six years, the Daliangshan Drama Festival has become a bridge connecting western and eastern China, as well as eastern and western cultures and arts around the world. It has provided a platform for exchange and exhibition of drama development both domestically and internationally, achieving cultural and artistic exchange and symbiotic growth. From November 8th to November 19th, 100 plays from 11 countries including France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Iraq, Georgia, and Armenia will be staged one after another. The drama festival will also hold themed activities such as international drama dialogues, international drama master classes, drama workshops, natural drama experimental camps, drama special forces programs, drama as life short video actions, and drama travelogues.
