Three Chinese peacekeeping police officers stationed in Cyprus were awarded the United Nations Peace Medal

Nicosia News: The award ceremony for peacekeeping police officers of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (Cyprus) was recently held in Cyprus, and 24 peacekeeping police officers, including 3 Chinese police officers, were awarded the United Nations Peace Medal. Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Sierra Leone, Stuart, delivered a speech at the award ceremony, thanking countries including China for sending peacekeeping police to the Force and making important contributions to promoting the peace process in Sierra Leone. During an interview with Xinhua News Agency, the captain of the Chinese peacekeeping police force in Cyprus, You Yang, said that the UN buffer zone established in Cyprus is over 180 kilometers long, and three peacekeeping police officers from China work in three different war zones, fully participating in daily patrols and management work. More than 100 people, including Commander Batsuri of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Liu Yantao, and relevant country ambassadors to Cyprus, attended the award ceremony. It is reported that since January 2015, China has dispatched 44 peacekeeping police officers to support the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Cyprus. (New Society)
