New Equipment, New Exhibition Area - Looking Forward to the New Highlights of the 15th China Aviation Exhibition

2024-11-06

At a press conference on the 5th, the Chinese Air Force confirmed that during the upcoming 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition ("China Air Show" for short), the Air Force will display the medium stealth multipurpose fighter J-35A for the first time. The news immediately attracted public attention and added another highlight to this year's China Airshow. Observing the information currently released from multiple channels, whether it is the upcoming exhibition equipment to be unveiled to the public or the planning and setting of the exhibition area, there are exciting new highlights for this year's China Air Show. In 1998, the China Air Show welcomed the first appearance of the Chinese Air Force's "Warhawk" in pursuit of new equipment. For many years, during the air show season, topics such as "what star equipment of the Air Force will be showcased" and "whether new aircraft will appear" have become hot topics among the public, and are also the common expectations of a group of "airplane enthusiasts". At the press conference on the 5th, Niu Wenbo from the Equipment Department of the Chinese Air Force revealed the "answer": During this year's China Air Show, the Chinese Air Force will select 36 types of equipment to participate in aerial flight demonstrations and ground static exhibitions, showcasing the new progress made in the construction of air force equipment in recent years. This includes the first exhibited J-35A fighter jet. Military expert Li Li said that the public release of the J-35A means that the Chinese Air Force will have two stealth fighter jets at the same time, namely the J-20 and J-35A. Based on various sources of information, the J-35 should be a series and may even serve as a carrier based aircraft in the future, significantly enhancing China's overall naval and air combat capabilities. The 'good news' goes beyond that. It is reported that the Chinese Air Force will also exhibit new equipment such as the Hong-19 surface to air missile weapon system and the new integrated reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicle for the first time during this year's air show; The cargo hold of the Y-20 aircraft will also be open for display for the first time, providing the public with a "zero distance" opportunity to access Chinese Air Force heavy equipment. It is worth mentioning that "chasing airplanes" is not the "only pleasure" of the China Air Show. The exhibits of this year's air show cover all fields including land, sea, air, space, electricity, and internet. A group of "high, precision, and cutting-edge" exhibits representing the world's advanced level will be showcased collectively. The reporter also learned from relevant scientific and industrial enterprises that a series of equipment such as new anti drone devices and laser defense weapons have also made their debut at the China Air Show, which is expected to attract a lot of attention. Unmanned equipment has more space than before. This year's China Air Show has set up three observation areas, among which the second exhibition area located in Doumen Lianzhou serves as a demonstration area for drones and unmanned ships. According to the Zhuhai Executive Committee of the China Aviation Exhibition, this is also the first time that the exhibition has opened a second exhibition area. According to public reports, the total area of the exhibition area is approximately 330000 square meters. At present, more than a hundred companies have confirmed their participation in the exhibition, and multiple drones and unmanned ships will hold their "first exhibition and show" here, bringing a panoramic display with a strong sense of technology between water and sky. In terms of drones, the exhibition area utilizes the flight conditions of Zhuhai Lianzhou Airport and plans a drone demonstration area of approximately 30000 square meters, including static display area, dynamic demonstration area, drone vertical takeoff and landing area, etc. It is expected that the "land carrier", a car capable of accommodating "aircraft", will demonstrate the entire operation process for the first time, showcasing China's technological strength in related fields. In terms of unmanned ships, the exhibition area relies on the navigation conditions of the Tiger Jumping Gate waterway and utilizes the approximately one kilometer long river section on the west side of Lianzhou Airport to construct an unmanned ship demonstration area with an area of about 300000 square meters. Four steps are also set up on the riverbank as a grandstand for the demonstration area. At present, it is known that more than ten types of unmanned ships from multiple companies will participate, demonstrating autonomous navigation, surround reconnaissance, target tracking and other actions. At an official press conference at the end of September, Huang Zhihao, the Mayor of Zhuhai and Director of the Zhuhai Executive Committee of China Aviation Exhibition, stated that the purpose of adding a new exhibition area is to "provide more performance space for drones and unmanned ships". This year's air show has found the best display location for drones and unmanned ships, which is also one of the new highlights worth looking forward to. China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition is the only international professional aviation and aerospace exhibition approved by the State Council in China. It has been successfully held for 14 times since 1996, and now ranks among the world's five largest aviation exhibitions. The 15th China Air Show will be held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province from November 12th to 17th this year. (New Society)
