2024-11-06
According to multiple media outlets such as the Saudi Arabian Gazette, as China Arab cooperation continues to expand, the Saudi government has included Chinese as a second official foreign language in the curriculum and introduced a series of incentive measures to encourage Chinese language learning. In recent years, cooperation between China and Arab countries has flourished and continues to present new highlights, with the continued rise of the "Chinese fever" in the Middle East being a vivid reflection. The fields of culture, tourism, and technology are important growth points for China Arab cooperation, and have achieved fruitful results in recent years. The high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has continuously promoted the mutual learning of civilizations and people to people exchanges between China and Argentina. At present, China has cooperated with 13 Arab countries to build 21 Confucius Institutes and 2 Confucius Classrooms. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, and Djibouti have officially incorporated Chinese education into their national education systems. Meanwhile, Arabic language teaching is also constantly developing in China, with over 50 Chinese universities currently offering Arabic language majors. In addition, tourist exchanges between China and Arab countries are becoming increasingly convenient, with countries such as Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar gradually implementing visa free entry policies for Chinese citizens; In the first half of this year, China opened multiple direct flights to cities such as Riyadh and Doha. In terms of technology, China Arab cooperation is flourishing in fields such as big data, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and digital economy. Middle Eastern media believe that the establishment of institutions such as the China Arab Technology Transfer Center and the Clean Energy Cooperation Center has formed a technology transfer and cooperation network connecting thousands of scientific research institutions and innovative enterprises in China and Arab countries. The increasingly deepening cultural exchanges and technological cooperation are cultivating a continuous stream of new momentum for China Arab cooperation. Why is China Arab cooperation becoming increasingly vibrant? There are multiple reasons for this. From an economic and trade perspective, China and Arab countries are highly complementary. China has been the largest trading partner of Arab countries for many consecutive years, while Arab countries are China's main source of energy imports. China and Arab countries have created and maintained a historic high in bilateral trade volume of around 400 billion US dollars. At present, China has signed cooperation documents with all 22 Arab countries and the Arab League to jointly build the "the Belt and Road". More than 200 large-scale projects have been implemented, and the results of cooperation have benefited nearly 2 billion people of both sides. From the perspective of multilateral mechanisms, the China Arab States Cooperation Forum, the China Arab States Summit, and the China Gulf Cooperation Council Summit have provided important platforms for building a China Arab community with a shared future for the new era. From the perspective of global governance, with countries such as Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joining the BRICS cooperation mechanism, cooperation between China and Arab countries in promoting global security and development continues to deepen and expand, and mutual assistance is provided on regional hot issues such as the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Last year, with the mediation of China, Iran and Saudi Arabia achieved a historic reconciliation. This year, China and Arab countries jointly issued a joint statement on the Palestinian issue. As stated in the Bloomberg article, Arab countries believe that China is a trusted friend and partner of Arab countries, and China's development is the growth of peaceful and progressive forces. Looking ahead, the prospects for China Arab cooperation are vast. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China Arab Cooperation Forum. As a member of the "Global South", China will continue to forge ahead with Arab countries in practical cooperation, focusing on development themes, strengthening strategic communication, deepening cultural exchanges, and accelerating the construction of a China Arab community with a shared future.
