The National Healthcare Security Administration announced on the 30th that currently, 27 provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have issued documents to include assisted reproductive technology in the scope of medical insurance reimbursement, while the remaining 4 provinces are accelerating related work. Assisted reproduction is the use of techniques such as artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization to enable couples with infertility or family genetic diseases to conceive and give birth to healthy fetuses. Since the beginning of this year, many regions have gradually included assisted reproductive technology in medical insurance. The General Office of the State Council recently issued the "Several Measures to Accelerate the Improvement of the Fertility Support Policy System and Promote the Construction of a Fertility Friendly Society", which once again clarifies that "various regions will be guided to include appropriate childbirth pain relief and assisted reproductive technology projects in the scope of medical insurance reimbursement". The inclusion of assisted reproductive technology in medical insurance has brought tangible benefits to insured individuals. Taking Sichuan as an example, the province has included 13 assisted reproductive medical service projects in the scope of basic medical insurance payment. Employee medical insurance and resident medical insurance are directly settled at a ratio of 70% and 50% respectively, with a lifetime limit of 2 payments per person. Among them, the "egg retrieval surgery" is priced at 2157 yuan/time in provincial tertiary public medical institutions, and employee medical insurance can reimburse 1509.9 yuan, with a self payment of only 647.1 yuan; Resident medical insurance can reimburse 1078.5 yuan, with a self payment of 1078.5 yuan, significantly reducing the burden of patient expenses.
