The service industry is accelerating the shaping of new driving forces for improving quality and efficiency
2024-10-28
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the proportion of China's service industry to GDP in the third quarter was 54.4%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the third quarter of last year. The retail sales of services in the first three quarters increased by 6.7% year-on-year, with a growth rate 3.7 percentage points higher than the retail sales of goods in the same period; The added value of the service industry increased by 4.7% year-on-year, with information transmission, software and information technology services, leasing and business services, transportation, warehousing and postal services, and accommodation and catering growing by 11.3%, 10.1%, 6.8%, and 6.3% respectively. In the first three quarters, the potential of China's service consumption market was significantly released, and the service industry continued to show a recovery growth trend. The support of new driving forces was significantly enhanced, and the import and export of services steadily increased. The contribution rate of the service industry to economic growth continued to increase. The service industry is not only the main engine for absorbing employment and driving economic growth, but also the lubricant and catalyst for promoting agricultural and industrial development. The accelerated recovery of the service industry fully demonstrates the great potential and strong resilience of China's economic growth. In the era of digital economy, the integration of productive service industry and manufacturing industry is accelerating, the digitalization level of life service industry is steadily improving, and new formats and models of service industry are flourishing. This not only changes people's production and lifestyle, but also promotes the sustained release of growth potential in the service industry. The lifestyle service industry is steadily recovering, and demand is showing a diversified trend. With the improvement of people's quality of life, there is a strong demand for traditional services such as tourism, catering, science and education, culture, health, sports, and social services. During this year's National Day holiday alone, the number of domestic tourism trips in China reached 765 million, an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period in 2019; Domestic tourists spent a total of 700.8 billion yuan on travel, an increase of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2019. In the third quarter of this year, the number of commercial performances (excluding entertainment venues) nationwide increased by 16.3% year-on-year, and box office revenue increased by 41.1%. With the continuous increase in the number and proportion of elderly population in China, industries related to the silver economy such as healthcare, nursing, health preservation, and healthcare have entered a new stage of expansion and quality improvement. Emerging service industries such as mobile payment, e-commerce, ride hailing, and live streaming sales are also flourishing, reflecting a shift towards optimizing and upgrading the service industry structure and continuously improving quality. The growth rate of productive service industry continues to climb, entering the fast lane of growth. At present, China's productive service industry accounts for about one-third of the service industry and about 18% of the GDP. Compared with developed countries, there is still significant room for improvement in China's productive service industry. Accelerating the development of productive service industry can not only drive the expansion of service industry scale, but also improve the quality and efficiency of manufacturing industry development, and enhance the international competitiveness of service trade. In recent years, China's productive service industry has shown a rapid growth momentum, especially the information technology service industry with double-digit growth, accelerating the release of development potential. Data shows that in 2023, the scale of China's industrial Internet core industry has reached 1.35 trillion yuan. In the process of transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, the supporting role of productive service industries such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence continues to strengthen, and the integration of service and manufacturing industries has become a trend. Our country's service industry has improved in both quantity and quality, promoting rapid growth in service exports. In recent years, the degree of opening up of China's service industry to the outside world has continued to deepen, and its international competitiveness has been continuously enhanced, driving rapid growth in service exports. Accelerate 'going global' in areas such as bonded maintenance, cloud computing, big data, software outsourcing, game development, and construction services. According to a research report, the overseas market revenue of independently developed games in China reached 8.554 billion US dollars in the first half of this year. It is worth mentioning that the domestic 3A game "Black Myth: Wukong" has emerged and caused widespread influence overseas, leaving a vivid footnote for China's cultural service products to accelerate their "going global". In the future, driven by the integration of data and reality, innovation, and openness, actively cultivating new driving forces for the development of the service industry will further activate the endogenous driving force of economic and social development. Fully utilize the opportunity of deep integration between the service industry and manufacturing industry to promote the leapfrog development of productive service industry. Mature productive service industries can help the manufacturing industry achieve cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and transformation and upgrading. We should seize the opportunity of deep integration between the service industry and manufacturing industry in this round, encourage and support productive service industries such as research and development, design, finance, law, accounting, and consulting to enhance their competitiveness, vigorously cultivate new service industries such as cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and low altitude economy, and consolidate and improve traditional service industries such as logistics, transportation, wholesale, retail, and warehousing. This will be conducive to further expanding the demand scenarios of the service industry, promoting mutual promotion and progress between productive service industry and manufacturing industry, and providing strong support for the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry. Promote the quality and upgrading of the life service industry through innovation. Currently, with the continuous improvement of material life, people's demand for high-quality spiritual and cultural life is becoming increasingly strong. Objectively speaking, compared to people's needs and expectations, our high-quality service supply in some fields is still insufficient. To this end, on the one hand, it is necessary to continue to improve the relevant system and mechanism for the supply of service products, enhance the efficiency of the allocation of service production factors, adhere to demand orientation, strengthen the construction of venues and infrastructure related to science, education, culture and sports, and cultivate more high-quality service talents. On the other hand, we need to accelerate the innovation of new models and formats in the service industry, vigorously develop the experience economy, actively strengthen the initial launch economy, and enhance people's satisfaction, comfort, and sense of gain. In addition, we will actively promote the comprehensive pilot program of expanding the opening up of the service industry, reduce the negative list of foreign investment access in the service industry, and accelerate the formation of a batch of replicable and promotable institutional innovation achievements. Benchmarking international high standard service trade rules, accelerating institutional opening up, and fully leveraging China's comparative advantages such as human capital and market size will undoubtedly inject more vitality into the high-quality development of China's service industry.
