Creating a children's world for children in school

There is a saying in the Tao Te Ching: "Those who know others are wise, those who know themselves are wise. Those who overcome others are powerful, and those who overcome themselves are strong." Human growth is nothing more than the process of self-awareness and self victory, and self victory is based on self-awareness. When 'self-awareness' encounters problems,' clarity 'disappears. Self awareness "is expressed in our current language as" self-awareness ", which is the result of self-evaluation. The healthy growth of a child should be accompanied by two worlds: the child should participate in the adult world led by parents or teachers, and learn the thinking style, problem-solving ability, and value pursuit of the adult world in this world. At the same time, children participate in the children's world composed of themselves, enjoying childlike language and fearlessness in this world. For children, their experiences in both the adult and child worlds are a source of self-evaluation. Obviously, a child's complete self-awareness cannot be separated from both the experiences of the adult world and the experiences of the child world. The children's world is a projection of the adult world. The significance of the children's world for their growth lies in helping them form a more objective and comprehensive self-awareness. Children's self-awareness in the adult world mainly comes from adult evaluations, which are often relatively singular. In the eyes of many adults, as long as the exam score is high, the child is recognized as excellent. In such an evaluation system, children also consider themselves excellent. On the contrary, children with poor grades also face problems such as lack of confidence. But in the world of children, their grades are no longer the main basis for forming self-awareness. For children, good grades are certainly good, but what is more important than grades is that the skills they possess are useful to the world of children and therefore recognized by their peers. The development of the times has brought us wonderful new experiences, but at the same time, it has also brought about changes in the environment. With the acceleration of urbanization and changes in people's concepts, the children's world constructed by children as the main body is gradually disappearing. This change has brought about extreme dependence of children on the adult world, which in turn leads to distortion of children's self-awareness. In the world of children, peer socialization is particularly crucial for their mental health development. Originally, the accolades received in the adult world could be flaunted in the children's world, earning the envy of peers and the joy of sharing; The setbacks encountered in the adult world can be vented or expressed in the child world, receiving comfort or comparison from peers, and resolving the pain caused by setbacks through comfort and comparison. But with the disappearance of the child's world, these naturally occurring expressions and resolutions are gone. More importantly, in the past, children's failures in the adult world could be offset by their successes in the child world, and their successes in the adult world could be offset by their setbacks in the child world. Similarly, with the disappearance of the child's world and the disappearance of these defenses, it will lead to a lack of self-awareness in children, resulting in certain psychological problems. The solution to children's psychological problems is a systematic project. At present, curriculum education and psychological screening are necessary, but in the long run, these alone are not enough. For educators, the solution should be to provide children with a childhood world that cannot be replaced by an adult world no matter how hard they try, helping them form objective, authentic, and stable self-awareness. In order to provide children with a children's world, our school has designed an activity called the "Dream Leader" activity, which aims to use educational methods to provide children with an experience of forming self-awareness. The main process of organizing school activities includes five stages: finding "dream leaders", forming teams, pursuing dreams, showcasing achievements, and reflecting and summarizing. The starting point of the activity is a vision for the children, such as cycling, environmental protection, recitation, fencing, etc. This starting point ensures that the formation of the bond in the world of children is one thing, it is the common dream of children, and the process of children proposing their vision is the process of finding a "dream leader". The organization of activities is the concrete process of children's dreams. The "dream leader" concretizes the dreams into slogans, flags, plans, equipment, etc., and informs students through advertising, speeches, and face-to-face meetings to stimulate their interest. At the same time, because each student will witness multiple advertisements, speeches, and interviews from different 'dream leaders', these students gradually clarify their dreams through different inspiring processes and choose to apply to join organizations they are interested in. In a two-way choice, children form an alliance, and the 'Dream Leader' has a dream team. The implementation of the "Dream Leader" activity is a key link in the real implementation of the children's world. During the process of the activity, the homeroom teacher plays the role of a consultant, the parents are the guarantors, and the mentors are hired by the children themselves. Therefore, the protagonist of this world is children, and adults have withdrawn from the dominant position in children's lives during this period. Children have independently arranged their own plans. Because it is necessary to showcase achievements, the children's world composed of "Dream Leaders" activities has value pursuit. They do not gather together to play, but gather together to pursue an achievement, which is the harvest of their dreams. Also, because the achievement display is an exchange and competition between multiple dream teams in the same grade, the sense of honor and collective consciousness of children begin to shine in the world of children. The activity also includes a reflection and summary section. For a total of 5 months before and after the "Dream Leader" activity, everyone worked together towards a dream, or rather, came together for a dream, and worked frantically for 5 months. There were difficulties, happiness, conflicts, friendships, successes, failures, etc., all of which were reflected upon and reviewed by the children. In the form of a commemorative book, the "Dream Leader" activity was summarized. This farewell is also a way for children to bid farewell to their own children's world, or for everyone to meet again in the form of a "Dream Leader" activity. The children's world becomes a psychological space for children to discuss and measure. Since the launch of the "Dream Leader" activity, we have organized a total of nine sessions, which have been deeply loved by children and enjoyed by teachers. In primary school, children have multiple opportunities to participate in the "Dream Leader" activity, which allows them to experience multiple "child worlds" and form objective and true self-awareness through continuous experiences, laying the foundation for their "self-awareness" and "self victory". Schools are the educational organizations of this society, and they must use educational methods to solve children's growth problems. This is the responsibility of schools and the fundamental basis for schools to become schools. And all the responsibilities will turn into the beauty of growth. (New Society)
