The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Intangible Cultural Heritage Huirui Exhibition opens in Hong Kong

The exhibition "Celebrating National Day with One Heart - Collection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area" opened at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on the 19th and will be held until March 31st next year. This exhibition, themed around auspicious beasts, introduces the intangible cultural heritage projects of the Greater Bay Area, including performing arts, traditional handicrafts, festival customs, etc., to the public, showcasing exquisite skills and cultural heritage. The exhibition is the first joint touring exhibition with the theme of intangible cultural heritage in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, with Hong Kong as the first stop, followed by Shenzhen and Macau. Yang Runxiong, Director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated at the opening ceremony that Hong Kong has the characteristics of diversity and openness, and the convergence of Chinese and Western cultures, positioning itself as a platform for cultural exchange between the East and the West. The SAR government will actively promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, work together with cities in the Greater Bay Area to shape and enrich the humanistic spirit of the Greater Bay Area, and enhance cultural identity and cohesion within the region. Liu Lei, Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, stated that this year marks the 15th anniversary of Guangdong Hong Kong Macao joint application for the inclusion of Cantonese opera projects in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and the three regions have entered a new stage of exchange and cooperation in intangible cultural heritage. This exhibition is one of the important measures to build various exchange alliances, which will enhance the cultural cohesion of the Greater Bay Area. It is reported that the exhibition will introduce selected intangible cultural heritage projects from various cities in the Greater Bay Area to the audience through interactive exhibits, graphic and textual display boards, video programs, and experiential activities, such as the Hakka Kirin Dance in Hang Hau, Sai Kung, Hong Kong, and the Drunken Dragon Festival in Macau. The exhibition is organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. It is one of the fourth Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural and Art Festival and the "Humanistic Bay Area, Brilliant Intangible Cultural Heritage" -2024 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Intangible Cultural Heritage Collection series of activities.
