The 2024 Malaysia "China Film Festival" opened in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of the 14th. This film festival selects 12 classic Chinese films or recent works, with the theme of "Flying Five Ranks, Appreciating Splendor Together", to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. It is reported that this film festival is divided into three major sections: the "Time Imprint" section selects classic films such as "Pansi Cave", "Liu Sanjie", "Red Sorghum", etc., leading the audience to review the historical trajectory of Chinese cinema; The "Animation Dreams" section showcased "Chang'an 30000 Miles" and "New God List: Yang Jian", showcasing the rise of Chinese animation on the international stage; Contemporary films such as "In the Octagonal Cage," "The Chinese Table Tennis Strikes Back," and "Flying Life 2" in the "Story Corridor" section convey the spiritual power and cultural connotations of Chinese society. The opening ceremony of that day chose "Flying Life 2" as the opening film, which received warm applause from the audience on site. Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Communications, Zhang Nianqun, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, stating that Malaysia China film cooperation has a long history, and the China Film Festival has provided a valuable platform for exchange between the film and television industries of the two countries. Zheng Xuefang, Acting Charg é d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, stated that this film festival provides an important platform to showcase the achievements of Chinese cinema and cooperation between the two countries, and also lays a more solid cultural foundation for the friendly relations between the two countries. Lin Siwei, one of the organizers of the event and deputy director of the China Film Archive, believes that the film cooperation between China and Malaysia has a long history. In recent years, with the promotion of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the cooperation between the two sides in the film field has been deepening. This film festival has further promoted cultural exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation in the film industry between the two countries by showcasing classics and new works. It is reported that this film festival is jointly organized by the China Film Archive, Kuala Lumpur Chinese Cultural Center, and Malaysian Chinese Film and Television Association, and is supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Communications, the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the National Film Administration of China, and the National Film Development Board of Malaysia. More than 300 Chinese and Malaysian guests, including Sairuddin, CEO of the National Film Development Board of Malaysia, Li Hua, representative of the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Cultural Center, and Zheng Xiongcheng, Chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Film and Television Association, also attended the opening ceremony on that day.
