Adhere to integrity, innovate and promote "Traditional Chinese Medicine+"

2024-10-15

Promoting the realization of "Chinese medicine+" can better highlight the leading role of Chinese medicine in the prevention of disease, the synergy in the treatment of major diseases, and the core role in rehabilitation. Breads containing Chinese medicinal materials, such as orange peel, cinnamon, apple crisp, siraitia grosvenorii and blueberry, are popular. Cassia seed, poria cocos, mulberry, etc. have become the latest "companion" of milk tea and coffee... For some time, "food and medicine are the same source+nourishing food" has become a popular choice for health care consumption, and "Chinese medicine+" has become the flow code. The integration of traditional Chinese medicinal materials into modern cuisine provides a new "way of opening up" for promoting the inheritance, innovation, and development of traditional Chinese medicine. The "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Construction of Health Culture in the New Era" issued in February this year proposed to "promote the integration of traditional Chinese medicine culture into production and life" and "accelerate the transformation of traditional Chinese medicine culture from content supply to product supply". The popularity of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Plus" helps to enhance the service capabilities of traditional Chinese medicine and promote the formation of a good atmosphere of "loving, trusting, and using traditional Chinese medicine". It should also be noted that traditional Chinese medicine belongs to the category of drugs and should not be added to food at will. In traditional Chinese culinary culture, some Chinese medicinal herbs are also considered as ingredients and ready to eat medicinal substances. Only traditional food and medicinal substances listed in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China can be added to food. Clarifying legal boundaries is conducive to regulating the healthy development of traditional Chinese medicine food, avoiding excessive speculation and harming consumer rights. Traditional Chinese Medicine Plus provides a new path for the inheritance, innovation, and development of traditional Chinese medicine in the new era. Not long ago, the National Health Commission and three other departments jointly released the "Guidelines for Traditional Chinese Medicine Work in Comprehensive Hospitals (2024 Edition)", proposing that all tertiary comprehensive hospitals should set up traditional Chinese medicine clinical departments and make them the first level clinical departments of the hospital. This not only provides policy support for promoting the integration of traditional Chinese medicine, but also brings multiple perspectives to disease treatment. For example, Peking Union Medical College Hospital has established integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine wards, opened multiple integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine clinics such as Sleep Disorders Joint Clinic, Traditional Chinese Medicine Beauty Clinic, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Tumor Joint Clinic, providing patients with comprehensive medical services combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine and acupuncture and medicine. Promoting the implementation of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Plus" can better demonstrate the leading role of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing diseases, the synergistic effect in the treatment of major diseases, and the core role in rehabilitation. The profound and extensive traditional Chinese medicine is rooted in China's excellent traditional culture, constantly accepting the achievements of human civilization in an open and inclusive manner, demonstrating a strong vitality that keeps pace with the times. At the 2024 Health China (Hengqin) International Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Technology Industry Expo, the intelligent moxibustion robot replaced human hands with a robotic arm, simulating the treatment techniques of traditional Chinese medicine experts, and was easy to operate, winning praise. With the empowerment of data, traditional Chinese medicine has been given digital wings, and the traditional Chinese medicine classics that have been passed down for thousands of years have been activated. We will make every effort to create "digital intelligent traditional Chinese medicine", transform scattered clinical experience of traditional Chinese medicine into evidence-based evidence, gradually integrate emerging digital technologies into the entire chain of traditional Chinese medicine, and better promote the rejuvenation of traditional Chinese medicine. The Decision of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed to "improve the mechanism for inheriting, innovating and developing traditional Chinese medicine". In recent years, we have focused on major and difficult diseases that seriously affect people's health, carried out collaborative research and development between traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and combined treatment with "traditional Chinese medicine+", significantly improving clinical efficacy and providing the public with treatment plans that combine the advantages of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and have more significant therapeutic effects. Next, through reform, we will resolutely eliminate institutional and mechanism barriers, promote interdisciplinary integration, and facilitate the restructuring of advantageous resources. This will enable the "Traditional Chinese Medicine+" to generate more new achievements and new business models, promote the upgrading of the traditional Chinese medicine industry, and better develop "Chinese medicine", providing strong support for the construction of a healthy China. General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that 'traditional Chinese medicine is a treasure of the Chinese nation'. Upholding integrity and innovation, we will tap the essence of the great treasure house with "TCM+", promote the integration of ancient Chinese medicine into modern society, inject new vitality into the inheritance, innovation and development of Chinese medicine, and open up a new prospect for human health.
