On the evening of the 1st, the 10th Yunnan Lantern and Dian Opera Art Week opened in Luliang County, Qujing City. More than 700 professional actors and opera artists gathered here to enrich the cultural and artistic life of the people with lantern and Dian Opera art performances. Lantern and Dian Opera are the most representative local opera arts in Yunnan Province, with a profound historical and cultural heritage. Yunnan folk has always maintained the tradition of singing lanterns and appreciating Yunnan opera. Since 2005, Yunnan Flower Lantern Dian Opera Art Week has been held every two years, playing a positive role in promoting the inheritance, development, and innovation of flower lantern Dian Opera art. The Flower Lantern Yunnan Opera Art Week is hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Yunnan Federation of Literary and Art Circles. 17 flower lantern Yunnan Opera performance teams from all over the province participated in the competition, taking the Art Week as an opportunity to promote cultural activities that benefit the people directly to the grassroots and drive the development of cultural tourism. The Art Week has been held for ten consecutive sessions, laying a solid public foundation for the inheritance and development of lanterns and Yunnan opera Sun Jinkun, the national first-class director of Yunnan Ethnic Art Research Institute, who participated in the 10th Art Week with full attendance, stated that folk culture and art will draw rich nutrients from Yunnan, a land of multi-ethnic cultural integration, better inherit and innovate, and produce more distinctive, innovative, and individualized works. Long Qian, the president of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Theater and the chairman of the Guangxi Dramatists Association, stated that the cultivation of drama talents is a long-term and complex process, and the Flower Lantern Dian Opera Art Week provides a platform and opportunity for a large number of talents. She believes that "these down-to-earth local opera genres should be polished and produced into excellent classic plays, so that classic images and stories can deeply penetrate people's hearts, and be constantly performed, updated with the times, and passed down." That night, the large-scale lantern drama "The Legend of the Cuanbei" was exhibited live. The Cuanbaozi Stele was carved in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and unearthed in Qujing, Yunnan during the Qianlong period. It is renowned both domestically and internationally for its calligraphic and historical cultural value. The drama tells the legendary story of the discovery and preservation of the Cuanbaozi Stele, presenting the historical inheritance, cultural origins, calligraphy characteristics, and other aspects of Cuanbaozi Stele in a theatrical style, highlighting local classic elements and iconic cultural symbols, and reflecting distinct local and ethnic characteristics. It is worth mentioning that this year's Art Week has designed and launched for the first time an Art Week mascot with Qujing cultural characteristics. For the first time, the theme of Qujing Cuan culture and elements of Yunnan Opera lantern drama have been adopted to design the mascot of the Lantern Yunnan Opera Art Week, "Cuan Huahua" and "Cuan Dian Dian". It is reported that the Lantern Yunnan Opera Art Week will last until October 17th, and will also organize outstanding lantern Yunnan Opera (festival) exhibitions, young actor singing competitions, lantern Yunnan Opera art entering schools, lantern Yunnan Opera art entering communities, expert reviews of exhibition competitions, closing ceremonies and award ceremonies, and other activities to bring cultural feasts to citizens and tourists.
