The Supreme People's Court of China announced that on September 25th, the Tangshan Intermediate People's Court in Hebei Province held a public trial of the corruption and bribery case of Tang Shuangning, former Party Secretary and Chairman of China Everbright Group Co., Ltd. The Tangshan People's Procuratorate charged that in April 2003, the defendant Tang Shuangning took advantage of his position as the director of the First Division of Banking Supervision of the People's Bank of China to own 3015000 yuan worth of public property in his custody and use. The Tangshan People's Procuratorate also sued and accused that, from 2000 to 2017, the defendant Tang Shuangning used his position as Director of the First Division of Banking Supervision of the People's Bank of China, member and vice chairman of the Party Committee of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, secretary and chairman of the Party Committee of China Everbright Group Corporation, secretary and chairman of the Party Committee of China Everbright Bank Corporation, and other positions to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as job adjustment and loan acquisition, and illegally received property totaling more than 11.02 million yuan directly or through others. The procuratorial organ requests that Tang Shuangning be held criminally responsible for corruption and bribery. During the trial, Tang Shuangning made his final statement and expressed remorse in court. The court announced a recess and scheduled a verdict. According to public information, Tang Shuangning was born in October 1954 in Beizhen, Liaoning and has been working in the financial field for many years. In July 2023, it was officially announced that it was under investigation; In January of this year, it was officially announced that he had been expelled from the party.
