On the evening of September 24th, the Consulate General of Uruguay in Guangzhou held a documentary screening event with the theme of "Love, Literature, and Poetry" in Guangzhou. The purpose of this event is to showcase Uruguay's rich and diverse cultural and artistic heritage, and promote cultural exchanges between China and Uruguay. That evening, the event screened a documentary by the famous Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti, attracting many Latin American literature enthusiasts, literary figures, and Sino Ukrainian friendly individuals to participate. Facundo Sim ó n Fernandez Guerra, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, stated in his speech that the consulate has been committed to promoting literary and artistic exchanges between China and Uruguay, hoping to bring Uruguayan literature closer to the Chinese people. He pointed out that Uruguay should deepen its cultural and academic ties with China, especially in the fields of Latin American studies, Spanish language studies, and literary studies. These fields contain enormous research value and potential, providing vast space for the collision of Chinese and Ukrainian cultures. Uruguayan Consul General in Guangzhou, Facundo Simon Fernandez Guerra (left), and President of the Chinese Poetry Society, Yang Ke, shared a newly created poem with the Uruguayan Consul General and on-site guests to pay tribute to Mario Benedetti. He deeply felt the resonance of peace between China and Latin America - the concern for the present, the exploration of humanity, and the courage to maintain hope. Poetry is the key to unlocking the soul, and the exchange of different cultures can bring new perspectives to humanity. Yang Ke, the president of the Chinese Poetry Society, shared his love and unique feelings for Latin American literature with Latin American literature enthusiasts and researchers on site. "Whenever I read Uruguayan literary works, I feel the rich cultural connotations contained within them. This is precisely because Uruguayan literary works carry the soul of a great nation." Subsequently, the guests at the scene quietly enjoyed the documentary "Mario Benedetti: Sixty Years with Ruth," immersing themselves in the story of this influential poet and Uruguay's unique cultural atmosphere. After the viewing ended, guests sat together, savoring the fragrant traditional Latin American cuisine while chatting about their viewing experiences and the resonance and thought-provoking aspects of Chinese and Ukrainian culture. The atmosphere at the scene was lively.
