Recently, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote a letter to the Pu'er National Unity Oath Stele on behalf of future generations, giving them warm encouragement and expressing sincere hope.
Xi Jinping pointed out that in 1951, representatives of all ethnic groups, including your predecessors, erected monuments and solemnly pledged to follow the Party with one heart and one mind. For over 70 years, people of all ethnic groups have been united and striving towards the Party, promoting historic achievements in the economic and social development of border areas, and writing a vivid chapter of ethnic unity and progress.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the Chinese nation is a big family, and the 56 ethnic groups are a loving family. I hope you can carry forward the glorious traditions of your predecessors, better continue the story of the oath tablet, and pass on the good story of national unity from generation to generation. All ethnic groups should keep in mind the sense of community of the Chinese nation, integrate it into their blood, jointly defend the territory of the motherland, and build a beautiful homeland, so that the flower of national unity and progress will bloom more and more brilliantly.
In 1950, representatives of various ethnic groups from Pu'er Special Zone in Yunnan were invited to Beijing to participate in the celebration of the first anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and were warmly received by Mao Zedong and other party and state leaders. On the New Year's Day in 1951, the people of all ethnic groups in Puer Special Administrative Region held a pledge meeting, and set up a pledge monument based on the customs and habits of ethnic minorities, saying "we will work with one heart and one mind, unite to the end, and under the leadership of the CPC, we will swear to strive for building an equal, free and happy family!" 48 representatives of all ethnic groups signed on the monument. Recently, the Pu'er National Unity Oath Stele, on behalf of future generations, wrote a letter to General Secretary Xi Jinping, reporting on the situation of local ethnic groups living a happy life under the leadership of the Party, expressing the determination to remember the oath and follow the Party, and contribute to national unity and border prosperity and development.
