On the evening of September 21st, the 7th Jiangsu Buddhist Forum, guided by the Jiangsu Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission, hosted by the Jiangsu Buddhist Association, and organized by the Changzhou Buddhist Association, opened in Changzhou. At the opening ceremony, Ma Lianmei, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission, pointed out in her speech that the Buddhist community in Jiangsu should take this forum as an opportunity to adhere to the spirit of unity with the Party and the government, and walk in the same direction as the development of the times, deeply promote "cultural enrichment", adhere to high-quality, comprehensive and strict governance of education, focus on cultivating a group of high-level "dual communication" talents who are proficient in classic doctrines and Chinese culture, continuously enhance exchanges and mutual learning between the Buddhist and academic communities, promote the transformation of forum achievements, and make new contributions to creating a new situation in the study of Buddhist culture in Jiangsu. Yang Fen, member of the Standing Committee of the Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Municipal Committee, stated that Changzhou will firmly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourse on religious work and the Party's basic principles on religious work. Taking the hosting of this forum as an important opportunity, Changzhou will further promote the practice of sinicizing Buddhism in China to deepen, implement, and achieve steady progress. In his speech, Venerable Chang Zang, Vice President of the China Buddhist Association, expressed the hope that the Jiangsu Buddhist Association will take this forum as an opportunity, guided by socialist core values, and with the goal of enhancing the "five identifications" of Buddhist practitioners and believers, while maintaining the basic beliefs and core doctrines of Buddhism, promote innovation and adherence to doctrines, rules, management systems, etiquette customs, and behavioral norms, and further promote the deepening and implementation of the sinicization of Buddhism. In his speech, Venerable Awakening, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China, pointed out that Jiangsu is an important place for the dissemination of Chinese Buddhism. The convening of the 7th Jiangsu Buddhist Forum is not only a summary and reflection on the process of sinicization of Buddhism in the past, but also a prospect and guidance for the future. As practitioners and promoters, the Buddhist community in Jiangsu will continue to play a leading role in the national Buddhist community, shoulder greater responsibilities, and become a positive driving force for the sinicization of Buddhism in the new era. Master Qiu Shuang, Deputy Secretary General of the Buddhist Association of China and President of the Buddhist Association of Jiangsu Province, stated that this forum will thoroughly implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Conference on Religious Work. The Buddhist community in the province should take this as a new opportunity, always hold high the banner of patriotism and love for religion, consciously practice the socialist core values, adhere to the direction of sinicization of Buddhism, strengthen comprehensive and strict governance of religion, unite and cooperate, strive for excellence, and solemnly uphold the country and happiness with emotions. Master Jingyin, the abbot of Baolian Temple in Hong Kong and a professor at Nanjing University, delivered a speech on behalf of experts and scholars. He stated that he will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Buddhist community in Jiangsu, allowing Buddhism to take root in the fertile soil of the times, grow new branches and leaves, and bear new flowers and fruits, contributing the wisdom and strength of the Buddhist community to the realization of the Chinese Dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. At the opening ceremony, the attending guests jointly kicked off the 7th Jiangsu Buddhist Forum. Subsequently, the attending guests enjoyed the Jianghai Buddhist Rhyme · Longcheng Sanskrit Music - a special concert for the Buddhist community in Jiangsu to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
