The routine of "raising a cat for 0 yuan" is full of tricks, don't let love be consumed

Would you be tempted to see messages like '0 yuan to adopt a cat', 'bring it home for free', and 'give small animals a warm home'? However, this may be a bundled consumption tactic of merchants. In recent years, the "free adoption" pet sales model has quietly emerged in various regions. Some operators use "free adoption" as a gimmick to induce consumers to sign pet product purchase and sales contracts, and the actual expenditure of consumers is much higher than the market price of purchasing pets. Recently, a consumer complained that they were induced by a pet sales company in Chongqing to sign a pet adoption contract. Before signing, they were unaware of the contents such as "continuously purchasing pet daily necessities for more than 18 months at a monthly cost of 278 yuan" and "compensating 6000 yuan for breach of contract". Only after signing did they realize that they had fallen into the trap set by the merchant. It is worrying that the bundled cat food not only has a much higher price than domestically produced cat food on the market, but also has poor quality, without even a specific ingredient list. A doctor from a pet hospital has stated that cat food without ingredient lists may contain harmful additives, heavy metals, and other unknown components, causing serious damage to organs such as the liver and kidneys of cats. The Consumer Rights Protection Law of our country clearly stipulates that consumers have the right to independently choose goods or services. This kind of business behavior, called "free adoption" but actually "pet buying and selling", is suspected of false advertising and fraud, and is a violation of consumers' right to know and fair trade; The practice of indirectly forcing consumers to purchase "three no products" is also irresponsible to the life and health of pets. Using adoption instead of purchase is a compassionate act that provides a warm home for stray animals through various means. When consumers see free adoption information and interact with the small animals in it, the soft part of their heart is easily poked, and their guard will correspondingly decrease. Some unscrupulous merchants take advantage of this mentality, claiming to be "free" but actually using various pretexts to fleece consumers, using unethical means to consume people's kindness and love. For such chaos, it is necessary for consumers to be vigilant, choose institutions with legal qualifications, keep relevant documents, and require the other party to provide evidence such as pet health reports and vaccination records to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. However, it should also be noted that some businesses nowadays are full of deceptive propaganda, with traps and tricks set up step by step, often making consumers exclaim that they are "unable to defend themselves". The responsibility for identifying illegal merchants should not be solely imposed on consumers. The popularity of bundling consumption under the guise of "free" has indeed exposed loopholes in industry regulation to a certain extent. At present, there are many information about free pet adoption being promoted and publicized on online platforms and physical stores. Among them, it is obvious that targeted screening and supervision are needed to determine which ones are truly public welfare adoption and which ones are commercial tricks that do not live up to their name. For this emerging industry, traditional regulatory models may no longer be able to clearly cover it. The relevant departments need to further refine regulations, clarify the entry thresholds, recognition methods, and operational rules for commercial sales and public welfare adoption, so that commercial activities belong to commercial activities and public welfare activities belong to public welfare, and are effectively regulated in their respective fields. Online platforms also need to strengthen their main responsibility, strictly review the qualifications and promotional content of merchants who have joined, and open up reporting channels to promptly filter out illegal merchants. It is necessary for local market regulatory authorities to take timely action against sellers who blatantly induce consumption and bundle and sell "three no products", uncover the gray industry chain behind them, and strictly investigate and punish them in accordance with laws and regulations. Only by working together and weaving a dense regulatory network can we prevent unscrupulous businesses from intentionally exploiting loopholes, effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, and prevent people's love from being consumed and put into practice.
